Chapter 8 'Gone'

"Bang, bang, bang." Derek sang as he tiptoed in his wolf form, his claws dripping the paralyzing venom onto the falling leaves under him. Unlike Jax, the venom changed Derek's wolf probably because of his young age. Instead of having a dirty blond color, now his wolf was a mixture of colors. He had white, brown, grey, and even some black patches in there.

I chuckled seeing him being his playful self. The others wolves were practicing battling but Derek was too caught up with his new glistening claws to pay attention to what we were all doing.

"Derek." I said out loud making him freeze and look in my direction. One paw was still in the air. "Yeah?" I smiled in his direction before looking at Jax, "Your fathers still waiting." I said to him making him nod. He shook his fur before looking at Jax, "Sorry, I was having fun." Jax laughed shaking his head, "No problem, son. Come on." he said.

Derek growled and started circling Jax slowly his eyes ever so vigilant. "What's the count?" Derek asked me but not taking off his eyes off of Jax.

I chuckled, "125 to 105. Your the 105 Derek." I told him. Derek hummed before his claws retracted and he ran towards a tree, I stared at him weirdly and so did Jax. Just as Derek was about to hit the tree he jumped up and bounced back so he collided into Jax. Oh, smart.

They growled and started fighting seriously, I watched them seeing who was going to win this one. Derek had the upper hand since he was on top of Jax although he couldn't get a good bite in. Jax growled and pushed him off finally but Derek maintained a steady balance and quickly went to get Jax right leg. Jax saw this and moved to the side but he wasn't as quick as Derek and Derek quickly jumped up to grab his neck. When he had him in his mouth he bit firm enough and growled playfully as he shook his head around.

Jax took out his tongue out and pretended to be dead making Derek laugh before letting go of his neck. "Ha! That's 125 to 106 now, dad." He told Jax. Jax sighed and nodded, "Yes, it is. Looks like your pretty much Alpha material now. I'm surprised of how much you've grown from your little pup size." Jax said standing next to Derek and he was right. Derek was just a few centimeters shorter than Jax and that's saying something.

Derek had the biggest grin on his face, "I do?! Well if you say dad, I mean I am 18 turning 19 in a few days." he said standing up showing off his fluffy chest. I went up to him and pet his head making him whine happily. "You know I was just thinking about that, Jackson." We looked up to see Augustus coming towards us with a sneaky smile on his face. Jax looked at his dad with a confused face, "What were you thinking about dad?" he asked him.

Augustus sighed, "I'm turning old son, I'm 55 for gods sake I can't be doing this anymore. I want to spend the rest of my life with your mother just traveling and seeing the sights. I want to promote Derek to be the new Alpha for these guys. After this whole ordeal I have made my choice and will promote him to be Alpha. Well if Derek wants to, I know he's young but I'll show me what he has to do before I leave." he told us.

We all stood there shocked to hear that, "No way?" Derek said, his ears were perked up and his tail was wagging slowly before he howled loudly and ran towards Augustus, licking him and whining happily. Jax looked at me and we looked at Derek, who came running over to us. "THIS IS AWESOME!!" Derek yelled happily.

They were howls and barks of joy everywhere around the pack and I couldn't be prouder of Derek. I think he deserved it, "Did I miss something?" Riley said coming up to us. I chuckled, "After this whole ordeal, your brother is becoming the Alpha of your grandpas pack." I told her. She gasped, "WHAT? THAT'S AWESOME!! DERYYYYY!" she screamed jumping on Derek. He barked and fell on his back surprised by his sisters sudden collision.

Jax turned back to his human form and I handed him back his clothes, Derek did the same thing. Once fully clothed Jax nodded, "I think we should have a little celebration, don't you think Steph, Dad?" he asked us. Both me and Augustus nodded, "Yeah, let's do it!"

With that everyone that could help started to prepare for the party we were going to have for Derek. Although Derek was just talking to the pack and even though we told him not to, he helped out in any way he could. It was about mid-afternoon by the time we finished the preparations and the party was in full swing. Everyone was dancing together, eating, or just playing games and being goofy. Mostly Derek was being goofy and playing the games, I was surprised he danced with a few of the girls and guys around the pack.

Then again, he went to every party in his high school life and I won't lie Derek knows how to get down when he wants too. Riley did too but she was with her mate so she might think stuff so Derek and I had our eyes on her while Jax laughed at us. "Shut up, we have to watch her Jax. You never know where your brain can take you at this age." I told him.

Jax nodded, "Yes, yes, Steph but I think it's okay to let her have a little fun once in a while. You too Derek, leave her for today. Alvin doesn't look one to do that besides you gave him a warning." Jax said.

Derek grumbled biting the watermelon in his hand, "Fine. I guess for tonight we can. Tomorrow though, tomorrow is different." he said. "Hey Derek!" Derek looked up to see one of his friends coming over. He stood up, "Sup, Liam?" he asked him. Liam pointed to the house, "Someone says they haven't met you yet and says they wanna say hi or whatever." He told him.

Derek smiled, "Alrighty, show me the way." he said to Liam but turned to us, "Be right back." we shook our heads and motioned him to go. Derek smiled and went with his friend into the house. I stood up and got on Jax's lap cuddling up to him, "How come he's grown so fast, I want him to be eight again!" I groaned making Jax laugh. "Ah, I wish so too, I want Riley to be six again too. Those were the good times."

I nodded, "Yes, yes they were." I sighed looking at Derek and Riley, two years and Riley is gone. I can't say I'm not sad because I am but this past year a certain idea has been eating at me and I can't seem to get it out of my head. I already told Riley about it and she was ecstatic about it and I'm sure after this whole ordeal it would be safe too. Derek I also consulted since I was more worried about him then Jax, but he was the happiest as he kept saying he wanted a little brother.

It's now or never, "Jax." I said, catching his attention. His eyes landed on me and I sighed, "So, I've been thinking for a while now, after this whole ordeal if you, I mean it's if you want to, it doesn't have to be immediately afterwards or anything, but you know I wanted to ask you now before it's all ju-"

I stopped when Jax kissed me making me smile when we separated he raised an eyebrow, "Just ask me, Steph babe." I sighed, "Do you want to adopt?" I asked him. Jax stood there for a whole five minutes just staring and I blushed, "I mean we don't have to! I'm only asking!" I said quickly but Jax shook his head. "Steph! Why wouldn't I want to have more children with you? Of course! How many?" Jax said excitedly as he gripped my hip in his hands.

I cheered and hugged and gave him a kiss on the lips, "I love so much." I told him. "I love you so much too." he whispered back. I couldn't be happier then I am right now this is amazing I can't believe that he said yes. "I'm so happy right now Jax, you wouldn't believe." I told him. Jax chuckled, "I am only to please, Steph." I nuzzled into his neck, "I was thinking two, another girl and another boy, so it's equal." I told him. He nodded, hugging me closer to him, "I agree seems fair, did you already tell Riley and Derek." Jax asked making me nod.

"ALPHA JACKSON, ALPHA AUGUSTUS!!!" someone screamed. We stood from our seats to see Liam coming back bloody and bruised. There was a gash on his head and there were hand prints on his neck as if he was being choked, we ran towards him just in time since he almost fell. "Oh my god, are you alright?" I asked him. Jax told something to get the pack doctors before he turned his attention back to us.

"Hey Liam, you okay? Are you okay? Don't worry the pack doctors are coming. Weren't you supposed to be with Derek?" Jax asked before looking around for Derek. Liam nodded, "That's why...I'm here." He said slowly his voice raspy. Liam's eyes turned to us, "Derek got kidnapped."

"What!" I screamed.
