Danny Reagan had a problem. Well, he had multiple problems, but the one most pressing on his mind was also pressing herself up against his body. He loved his family, but there was a certain amount of stress that came with being a member of New York's finest that Linda couldn't understand.

"You know, you're the best partner I've had." Jackie Curatola smiled at Danny, slightly out of breath from that night's activities. Street lights shone through the windows of her apartment, casting rays of light across them on the bed.

"In law enforcement or in bed?" replied Danny.

"You're the detective, Reagan." It was Danny's turn to smile. Danny knew he loved Jackie since the night of the prostitution sting. Holding her drugged like that in his arms made him realize he didn't want to lose her. That night was the start of their affair. After Jackie was released from the hospital, Danny sat up all night with her in her Queens apartment. He could tell that the job was taking a toll on her and that it was only a matter of time until she asked to transfer or would resign. She had nightmares all night.

From then on Danny took every opportunity to be with his partner. He remembered everything; their first kiss in the locker room at the precinct after she turned in her resignation, the first time they made love, they first time he realized he didn't want to be without her.

"You're also a detective. I love you, Jack. Did you detect that?"

"I may have had a lead," she laughed and lightly kissed him on the lips. Jackie's laugh was like music to his ears. Jackie was notoriously hard on criminals and extremely quick-witted, but with Danny, her hard exterior softened.

Danny wasn't content with stolen moments away from the precinct on his lunch break anymore. He wanted more. It was only a matter of time before his current partner, Baez, noticed something was off. His family knew he kept in touch with Jackie, but they didn't know about this. Jamie, perhaps, was the only one with any sense of what was going on. Jamie had heard Danny say 'I love you' on the phone. Innocent enough except the only problem was that Linda was in the dining room with the rest of the family.

Both Jackie and Danny knew the effects that their relationship would have on their loved ones. Jackie's marriage ended after her husband cheated, Danny saw his sister try to pull herself up after her ex destroyed her. Neither of them wanted to cause that type of pain to their families.

For now, Danny would have to be content with his current situation. He would have to be content with lying to protect feelings and skipping dinners to be with her. In reality, he thought that just maybe, any problem involving Jackie wasn't really a problem at all.
