After the episode with the bath, Harry contacted Merlin to have the man find Eggsy a new flat far away from him. He avoided the boy like the plague. Nothing Eggsy said should have hurt him, he was a spy for god's sake. He'd handled much worse situations, survived countless bullet wounds and beat the odds multiple times. Yet, Eggsy's words cut him deeper than all of that. Maybe he was just like Dean, he'd forced Eggsy to do something he didn't want to do, after all. The boy was right and Harry was determined to make sure Eggsy never had to deal with anybody like Dean, like him, again. The tension continued to grow. Word's were never exchanged but harsh glares were. Harry could read Eggsy's every look, every minute movement and god he hated being the reason for the hateful looks. His world was crumbling around him and there was nothing he could do that would stop it. Eggsy had a bright future ahead of him, he had so much potential and Harry would be damned if he would get in the way of that. No this was best, this had to be the best course of action. Why did it feel so wrong? When had it gone so wrong? All Harry had wanted was to keep Eggsy safe, show him how he was supposed to be loved. The love that he deserved and shouldn't settle for anything lower. Harry wasn't capable of showing him that it seemed. Over the past days Harry's mental health had declined, he worked himself to exhaustion and when he wasn't working he was drinking. Bottle after bottle was emptied and strewn about in his home office. Finally, after what seemed like ages, Merlin found a flat for Eggsy. This was it then, their last night together in Harry's house. To celebrate, or mourn, he wasn't sure which, Harry sat in his office staring down at the liquid in his glass. This was better, Eggsy would be better off after this. He kept repeating the words in his mind hoping the more he thought of them, the truer they would feel. It wasn't until he heard a hesitant knock, that his thoughts were pulled out of the dark circle " What is it?" he called out with a tired voice. Silence followed the kind of silence that wore at his patience. " I know you're there Eggsy" he sighed " Come in" he added after a moment. The door quietly creaked open and Eggsy slowly walked in making sure to shut the door behind him. There was no light in the younger man's eyes. That fiery spark Harry had admired was long gone now. That fact was like a knife in the chest, it was his fault after all. " Drinkin' already 'Arry?" Eggsy sighed and shook his head. "Merlin has my new flat set up and everythin' so I'll be leavin' tonight" he mumbled and looked at the ground away from Harry. "Good" Harry replied and ran a hand through his hair " I'm sure you'll enjoy the flat. Plenty to explore" "I can't fuckin believe you Harry" Eggsy sighed and rubbed his eyes "After everything, this is all you have to say?" he snapped and inhaled, clenching and unclenching his fists. "Yes, well" was the only reply Harry could muster as he pushed himself up and moved to pour himself a fresh drink. " It's about time you left" he added after a moment and gripped the edge of his bar. Not hard enough apparently as he found himself landing on the floor. It took him a moment to realize he hadn't fallen, he'd been thrown back. His head snapped over to Eggsy and he frowned darkly but didn't move. Not even when Eggsy roughly grabbed the front of his suit and pulled him closer, his fist drawn back. Of course, Harry could stop this, he could flip Eggsy over underneath him and make the boy regret even thinking of this but he didn't. He closed his eyes and exhaled softly ' Get out Eggsy" he said firmly and then waited for the impact he knew would be coming. To his surprise, he was dropped back to the floor. Slowly he forced his gaze up to the others and watched Eggsy back away from him and finally disappear. "I'm sorry my dear," he said with a soft shaky voice " For not being the man you thought I was" Harry's soft words were followed by sniffles, and then by quiet sobs, as he leaned against his desk. Eggsy must have been gone by now, on his way to his new flat but he wasn't. The blonde was leaning on the wall next to Harry's office door, just out of sight. God, what had he done?
