Authors Note: Hey, guys! I know its been a while, so here's a chapter where Annabeth finally goes back to school. Enjoy! :)
*****
I have finally lost enough weight to move on to the next step in this plan of revenge. I've overachieved on my goal of 120 pounds and I'm now 115 lbs.!
On to more important notes...
Step 2: Become likable and charming
That shouldn't be too hard to do, since I already am in presentable shape. I don't mean to brag, but I recovered amazingly. I mean, I'm no Victoria Secret model.
Back to the plot. I am back to school, from Thanksgiving break. And I am not looking forward to facing Cole. He hasn't seen me since I lost all this weight. Will he be surprised? Will he be upset? Will he want to get back together? We can't though I'm with Percy, I think. Plus, I would never date a guy who has been taunting me and making fun of me for about a year.
A voice interrupts my thoughts as I walk towards my locker, "Annabeth?" Sounds familiar.
I look up from my stack of books in my hands. A surprised expression is applied to my face, along with a wide grin.
"Percy!" I drop my school supplies and wrap my arms around his neck. He lifts me up by my waist. "What are doing here?" I asked.
"You're not happy to see me?" He pouts.
"No, I am. It's just, I was wondering why you're here." I notice a clipboard in his hand. Clipped on is an, attendance sheet?
"I'm student teaching here for about a month, for college."
"High School?" I didn't know he wanted to spend his career surrounded by bratty teenagers.
"You're so silly. I'm not teaching the high school! I'm just picking up some papers, then heading over to the Elementary School." My mouth forms an 'O' shape.
The bell fills the hallways, as I say my goodbyes to Percy. I peck him on the cheek and head off to my first class.
I walk in and instantly everyone stops their gossiping, chattering, and goofing around to whip their head to my direction. It's then that I remember that I'm skinnier now.
"Hi, guys..." I say as the whole class scans my appearance. Honestly, I don't look half bad today. I'm wearing an I heart nerds graphic tee with the hipster glasses on the front. With black leggings. On my feet, I slipped on my short beige Uggs that Vivian bought me for my birthday. I applied black mascara and winged eyeliner with a light brown eye shadow. I pinned my hair in a messy bun, that looked effortless, but attractive at the same time. As I analyzed my outfit over and over again, everyone just... looked at me. Like a piece of meat. Ew.
Marianna, the most liked (popular) girl in school squints, then walks towards me. She circles, like she is trying to decide something, or just conjuring up another insult. At last, it speaks, "You look... nice, Beth. You should sit at our table at lunch today." She says gesturing at her clique sitting down.
I evaluate the question, "Sure." I shrug.
She claps her hands and sits back down, "Great." She states enthusiastically. That was odd.
---
At lunch I order a salad and search the crowd for Marianna and her group.
She raises her hand and calls over to me, "Over here, Annabeth!" I nod and head her way.
As I set down my tray, she tugs on my arm and shakes her head towards the hallway. "Beth and I will be right back."
Before we reach the exit, Marianna stops me, "If you ever hurt my brother, I will ruin you!" She smiles and sashays back to the table. My mind tries to process what she said.
