*~*~*~*~Four Years Later~*~*~*~*

"Look at her! Reading again! Does she not understand its a lady's job to cook, clean, tend to the children, and serve her husband? No lady should be filling her mind with horrid and rebellious thoughts and intelligence!" I hear a woman tell another as I walk to the library while reading the last few pages of the book.

"How will any man ever wish to marry her one day?" I hear another ask.

Why would I care its not one of my top priorities.

"Her beauty makes her more desirable."

Well wonderful. I just wanna get a new book.

"I hear George has been planning on asking for her hand. What a lucky one!"

I stop dead in my tracks. No. No I'm not lucky at all. George is one of the most desired men in the village. Not the most desired but many girls around or are my age have fantasized about him asking for their hand.

And no way did I ever want him to.

I find myself in front of the library and smile at its familiarness of the small building. I walk in and the aroma of old and new books rushed to my nose.

"Back already Waverley?" I hear a crackly voice to my left.

I jump slightly not expecting Geoffrey to be over there. He's usually behind the counter.

I look up at him for he's a good 6 inches taller than me. "Yes! I finished this book and was hoping I could get a new one." I say holding the book out so he could take it.

He smiles, "You were just in here a the day before!" He says grasping the book and going to his desk. "Its only a matter of time before you've read all the books in this store. You've already read most of them already!" He says taking out his checkout book and penning in that I've returned the book. He then looks at me then shuffles through his desk. "I actually got a new book in today"

I feel a smile appear on my face. "Thats wonderful!" I say glee evident in my voice as he hands me the book. I look at the cover "Tender is the Night".

"May I check it out now?" I ask my hope rising.

"Why of course!" He chuckles and scribbles in his check out book "You can be off now!" He says shutting his book.

I head for the door. "Thank you!" I exclaim before going out and heading towards the square of the village. My lavender dress ( http://www.polyvore.com/m/set?.embedder=9268158&.svc=copypaste&id=111641946 )

flowing as the wind beats against it lightly. I sit down on a bench near the pub where the kiosk where hunters go to show off their game. I call the kiosk the humble-eater cause all it does is give hunters short term arrogance.

I get into my book and I am almost to the third chapter when a shadow is cast across me.

"Hello Waverley,"

I look up. I sigh out a shaky breath I was hoping to avoid him today.

"Hello George".
