Running through the trees she finally slowed down as she approached the house, her mother was in kneeling down the garden but didn't see her daughter as she was looking directly at the ground. Hermione took hold of the small white gate and opened it, the creaking of the wood made her mother look up and she smiled as she caught sight of her daughter stood before her. Standing up, she wiped her mud covered hands across her apron and walked over to Hermione.

"How was school?"

"Fine." She lied. Hermione didn't want her parents knowing, if they found out they would go straight to the school which would make things worse. She didn't want to be known as "the tell-tale" so it stayed as her dark secret.

"Do you have any homework?"

"No." She shook her head.

"Well that's great then!"

"What are you doing?"

"Planting some vegetables, want to help?"

"Yeah!"

"Okay, take your school uniform off then, we don't want that getting muddy."

Hermione nodded and then ran in to their house, She creaked open her large bedroom door and walked over to her wardrobe, taking off the school uniform and throwing it onto the floor she picked out a pair of light blue skinny jeans and a black vest before walking back downstairs and meeting her mum in the garden.

"Here's an apron to keep your clothes clean." She said throwing it over to Hermione who tied it round her waist and knelt down beside her mother.

"Here you go, start on the tomatoes."

Even just simple activities like planting vegetables made Hermione smile, the events of the day at school became only a distant memory as they both knelt on the soil with the sound of the radio humming quietly in the background. A song came on and they both sung softly together, it was beautiful and so calm. Suddenly the young girl got an idea and turned to face her mother.

"Mum, could I be home schooled?"

Her mother stopped what she was doing and looked over at her daughter, who's big brown eyes were sparkling with excitement.

"Home school? I thought you liked school."

"I do." She lied. "But just being here at home it's so relaxing. I think I would learn better in an environment like this."

"I...I don't know honey, it's quite expensive to hire a personal tutor."

"I'll put all my pocket money towards it! Please mummy!"

"Okay fine, I'll have a word with your father when he gets home from work."

"Yay! Thank you."

As they got back to gardening, thoughts flew all round Hermione's mind as she started imagining waking up and never having to run for the bus every morning, how she would never have to see any of those awful children again. She could just climb out of bed and get tutored in her room, maybe even she could get tutored whilst sat in her bed. She started getting excited and would put anything towards having her own private tutor.

Soon enough, the creak of the wooden gate interrupted her thoughts and she looked up to see her father stood on the path in his suit, clutching his briefcase in one hand and a plastic bag in another.

"Hey honey." Hermione's mum rose from the ground and pecked him on the cheek.

"Hey sweetie how was school?" He smiled looking down at his only daughter.

"Yeah, it was okay." She lied for a third time.

"Hermione wants to be home-schooled." She heard her mother whisper into his ear and his eyes widened.

"But what about-"

"Shush. She doesn't have to know till tomorrow, it might not even come anyway." They whispered frantically.

"What might not come?" She asked curiously.

"Just something I ordered on the internet darling, nothing you need to worry about."

Hermione's eyes narrowed, she knew her parents were hiding something from her but she couldn't figure out what they were talking about, she decided to just shake it off and continued planting tomato seeds into the soil.
