Cassian's POV:

The darkness slowly faded away as I regained consciousness.

But how did I survive?  Is this just a hallucination?  I asked myself as slowly I began to see the bright sun and the bright blue skies of Scarif again. I sat up, looking around.

I see the ocean, turned black from the dust, debris, & smoke. Not too far from me, I see Jyn, unconscious and face scarred from the blast.

Please, please, please be alive, Jyn. I said, hoping and praying that she was still alive. She was the one who kept me from losing it when Kaytoo died, she was the only one I  had left. In all hopes,  I grabbed her wrist. A slow, but steady pulse.  I rested my head against her chest listening for a heartbeat. It was a slower than normal but a stable one.  A soft hissy breath came from her mouth, she was alive & breathing.

I remained by her side for what seemed like an hour, she had finally begun to slip into consciousness. Her green eyes began to flutter open, blinking. She looked around before I came and leaned over her.

" It's okay, Jyn, you're alright. "  She looked up at me confused. " C-Cassian? " She whispered weakly. "  Yeah, it's me. " I softly stroked her hair in an effort to keep her calm.

I had begun to wonder if she suffered a minor concussion. I looked off in the distance, a undestroyed island wasn't too far from us. It had to be around early morning. We'd starve and suffer dehydration if we hadn't got over to the island in about 48 hours.  Yes, my leg was injured and poor Jyn had a concussion and probably hurt her wrist badly enough for it to be fractured.

I wanted to survive, we both wanted to survive. I decided I would carry her despite the fact she would probably try to resist and yell at me. She could barely sit up, yet walk.

I looked down to her, resting at my side.

It was going to be a long journey ahead of us.
