Cassian's POV:

Jyn was resting in my arms as I carried her along. Each step was agonizing but it brought us closer to survival. I looked down at Jyn,  who was asleep in my arms peacefully.  If we were the only survivors, which was likely, I wanted to make it out alive, both of us.

The island of Scarif was dead silent except for the sounds of nature, my footsteps, and the sound of Jyn's sibilant breathing. So much rubble and debris filled the destroyed islands except for the one ahead of us.  Dead bodies of stormtroopers and brave rebels also laid in the rubble.

I kept going, trying to stay strong, for Jyn despite all the pain, physically & emotionally. We had almost made it to the distant island, only a couple more miles, only a few more steps until I could get both of us to safety.

Jyn slowly stirred awake in my arms. Her green eyes snapped open again only to realize I've been carrying her this entire time.

" Cassian!? Why you carrying me, what about your leg?! " She struggled to get out of arms, I just held her tighter so she couldn't get down. " Jyn, you have a concussion and your wrist is probably fractured and you have scars and cuts all over, You can't walk, you'd pass out again. "

She rolled her eyes, still struggling to get to get out my arms. " But, I'm fine, your leg is probably bloody and cut. I can walk if you just stabilize me. " She had been the most stubborn woman I've ever met, but I loved it. " My leg is fine, Jyn. You don't need to walk until your concussion is okay. " She just groaned but didn't objectify against me, giving up.

I soon realized that we had made it onto the island, we made it and I could finally get a shelter up and make Jyn a sling from some fabric of my clothes and tend both our wounds with some fresh herbs.  We would survive, at least until we could find a method of escape.
