When I saw him, my heart stopped beating

I heard the footsteps before I saw the guy coming down the hall. At first, when they were just a faint scuffle I disregarded them. Then, remembering that I was the only person in the otherwise deserted and desolate hallway, I turned my head from looking inside my locker to see who it was. As soon as I looked, I felt my mouth drop open and I felt as if there were nothing else in the world besides me and the guy standing in the middle of the hall. He was absolutely stunning, gorgeous, amazing, no words that I tried to think of could describe him. He had light brown hair and the most piercing, pure blue eyes I had ever seen before. He was wearing dark-washed jeans, a plain white t-shirt, a leather jacket, and converse. The leather jacket hung loosely on his broad muscular shoulders. I quickly checked my hair and makeup in my mini-mirror in my locker and slammed it shut. He looked at me with a quizzical look on his face as I walked up to him.

"Hi, my name is Kasey. You must be new here," I said. Stay cool, calm. Act absolutely normal.

"Yea, I just moved here, and I don't really know where I'm going. I think I'm lost. My name is Jacob, but you can call me Jake," he replied with a smile, "Maybe you could help me?" My heart jumped. This amazingly hott guy wanted me to show him around our school? I couldn't believe it!

I jumped at the opportunity, "Yea, sure, of course. I would love to help you. What's your next class??"

He checked his schedule, "I have AP biology."

I smiled, "Hey, me too! We can walk there together." We started walking down the hall. "So, Jake, where did you move from?" I tried to start a conversation.

He stopped smiling, "I just moved from Texas...so, I'm assuming that everyone else is in class. Why aren't you?" he tried to change the subject.

I could tell that that was an uncomfortable topic, and I didn't try and press him, "I decided to ditch class this period. Not like it was important." I shrugged.

He smiled, "Quite the badass, are you?" I grinned. We walked in silence for about five minutes until we reached the science building. Since we had about 20 minutes left until the end of the period, we sat down on a low wall to wait. We didn't talk, but hell, I didn't care!!! It gave me a chance to stare at his amazingly good looks. With his chiseled features he would probably become the object of all the girls' attention in about 10 seconds flat. Through his tight white tee you could see his flat muscled body. It was obvious that he worked out and took sports seriously.

"By the way, do you play any sports?" I blurted, I had been dying to know. I think that it is incredibly hott when a guy plays a sport; it shows that they care about keeping in shape.

He smiled as if he could guess what I was thinking, "Yea, football is my main sport, but I love lacrosse and pretty much all other sports." Hearing those words come out of that beautiful mouth just made me feel so much better. I'm very athletic and anyone who is dedicated to sports pretty much qualifies as normal in my book.

"That is totally awesome!! I love sports too!! I play volleyball, swim, dance and do cheerleading, although I am not your typical high school cheerleader," I rattled on. Suddenly I realized that I hadn't stopped talking and this guy who I'd only known for about a total of 15 minutes was staring at me. I shut up. "Oops," I breathed, looking sheepish.

He burst out laughing, "Don't worry about it, it's alright. I like it when a girl can talk freely in front of me."

I smiled, "So what does the rest of your schedule like?" While inside, I was screaming, OMG!!! HE MIGHT END UP LIKEING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He glanced at the paper and handed it to me, "Here, you read it. I'm so sick of looking at school papers."

"Hey! You have the same schedule as me!!" I squealed in excitement.

He laughed. God, I love that laugh already. "Okay then, looks like I just got myself a new study buddy for every class," he grinned.

"This is better than I was hoping for!" I grabbed his arm forgetting that I didn't even really know him. I looked up at him and our eyes locked. We sat there for what felt like an eternity. He leaned forward toward me; it was the perfect moment....until the bell rang.

Everything was going perfect until that stupid bell rang. We both sprung apart as we snapped out of our daze.

"Sorry," we both mumbled at the same time as we looked away. In a matter of seconds the hallways and the quad were flooded with students on their way to next period.

"Hey Kase, what's up? Are you ready for bio?" my best friend Jaye walked up, preoccupied with her i-touch. "Oh my god!! WHO is this?!" she had looked up and suddenly noticed Jake.

"Uh, hey Jaye. This is Jake; Jake, this is my best friend in the whole world, Jaye," I introduced.

"Holy shit! You are damn hott, Jake!" she practically screamed, "Sorry, but its true Kase, and you know it!" she said, noticing the glare I was giving her.

"As if I didn't know that Jaye, but it's a little weird to just come up to a guy and say that randomly, and you are probably making him feel awkward," I stated.

"Uh, hey, guys? It's all good, it's not that big of a deal," Jake was trying to reassure me so that me and Jaye wouldn't be fighting. Too bad he didn't know that this was how we usually were. We were like sisters, we loved each other to death, but we bickered like crazy.

"Hey Dylan, come over here and meet Kasey's new friend!" Jaye yelled at our friend Dylan.

Suddenly, everyone noticed Jake. He was now the hott and popular new guy. In less than one minute, Jake and I were completely surrounded by every single girl in the school. When all the introductions were done, we pulled out of the crowd.

"Ha, told you so!" I taunted.

He laughed. "Okay, okay, you were right. I'm sorry," he put on a puppy-dog face.

"Your forgiven," I smiled. Jaye and Dylan walked up and we all started talking.

Suddenly Dylan made a face, "Bitch alert at 5 o'clock Kase." Great, just great. I really did not need this right now, I rolled my eyes.

"Hey Jake, I'm Serena. It's so unfortunate that these losers were the first people you ran into on your first day. Why don't you come over here and hang out with us? We can show you what a good time here really is," Serena trailed her fingers across his chest.

Damn I wanted to break those fingers off her hand so badly. Whoa! Kasey, stop being jealous, you don't even know him!! He might like her, so there's not going to be anything you can do. I looked over at Jake to see his reaction. He was stiff and did not have a happy look on his face. He grabbed her hand, which was laying somewhere sear his stomach, and gave it back to her.

"Thanks for the offer, but no thanks, I like it where I am just fine," he tossed me a sultry smile.

"Ugh, whatever. Just telling you, if you ever get sick of these losers, you always have me," she tossed her hair and walked back to her bitchy group of sluts.

"Thanks Jake. I totally hate her if you haven't noticed yet, but-" I was cut off as the he walked over to me and pressed his lips to mine in the sweetest, most passionate kiss I ever had.
