Shay's POV

crunch.. crunch.. crunch..

Come on come on come on! I thought as my dad's painstakingly slow Toyota Tundra pulled into the driveway of none-other than Mustang River Academy.

I 'squeed' to myself as I grinned, throwing the door open from my spot in the passenger seat and hopping out of the truck, jogging to the trailer.

I smiled excitedly as I opened it and saw my dun Arabian, Artemis standing there.

"Hey girl!" I exclaimed as I rubbed her muzzle.

She nickered softly as I grabbed her lead rope and led her out of the trailer.

She dipped her head and whinnied as we walked down a trail leading to this huge barn.

"I'll be back, dad! Just bringing Artemis down to the barn!"

I could hear my dad called back faintly "Okay!"

I continued down the path to the barn, which I smiled at.

I wrapped her pink lead rope around my hand nervously before entering the barn, my boot heels clicking as we walked down the aisle.

Soon, after passing many stalls, one at the very end read, "Artemis" on a gold plaque, next to a horse named "Charm" and across from "Willow". I guess Charm wasn't here yet, but in Willow's stall there was a beautiful gray dappled arabian.

"Look, girl." I whispered. Arte sniffed the plaque, then bobbed her head excitedly.

I laughed and lead her into the stall. "I'll be back!" I kissed her head then left the barn to help my dad unpack.

-------

"Your mom would have been so proud." my dad said as we finished unpacking the last box.

"I know she would." I smiled slightly at her memory.

"I am too."

I looked up at my dad and smiled. "Thanks, dad."

He nodded. "Here,"

He swung the backpack he was wearing around to his chest, then pulled what appeared to be a scrapbook out.

"Me and your mother made it before she.." he trailed off as he handed it to me.

I took it. "Oh my gosh.."

On the cover was a heart cut out in the cover, and a picture of me, mom, dad, and Artemis together.

I flipped through a couple pages and it was just of our family. I loved it.

"Thank you so much, dad!" I exclaimed as I hugged him.

He chuckled. "No problem."

"Hey." I said, looking up at him. "Before you leave, wanna come watch me jump Artemis?"

He laughed. "I would love to."

Then, we walked down to the barn again.

_____

"Hold on." I said as we walked into the barn. "I'm just gonna ask where they keep the jumps."

I saw an office door that read, "Mrs. Wilson".

I could see a woman inside sitting at a desk through a side window, so I knocked on the door.

"Yes?"

I opened it and stepped in. "Um, excuse me?" I asked politely.

"Yes, what is it?" the woman repeated.
