"Hajime! There's something I have to te-aaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Kazuichi bursts in to find Nagito sprawled out on the ground and Hajime furiously petting him like a puppy.

Kazuichi rubs his eyes and slowly steps back outside, closing the door behind him. He bursts in again to find Hajime sitting on his bed, reading a book. "Hey, Hajime! I just had the weirdest dream that there was a Daetheus in your house! Funny, right? Also, you should really keep your door locked..."

Kazuichi pauses to think about what he was going to say. A fluffy tail begins to stick out from under the bed, and Hajime frantically pushes it back in.

Kazuichi finally gathers his thoughts. "Ah, yeah! I have an urgent message from Chiaki!"

Hajime gives him a confused (slightly annoyed) look. "Why couldn't she just come tell me herself?"

Kazuichi' expression begins to shift a little, but he shakes his head and puts on his best serious face. "King Makoto... Has summoned you both to the castle."

Hajime's blood turns cold. "B-both of us? As in me and... Me and Chiaki?"

"Look, I realize that you're nervous, but it's the King's orders."

That's not the only thing I'm nervous about... Hajime thinks to himself.

"Just a little warning, though," Kazuichi leans in closer. "Chi doesn't really seem to be in the best mood right now, so try your best to cheer her up, k? You and I both know how the girl gets when she's grumpy."

Hajime stammers. "B-but-"

Kazuichi sits down next to Hajime and puts his arm around the brown-haired boy's shoulder. "Look, I know you're scared, but... But it's an honor just to have the King acknowledge your existence..."

"Are you crying?!"

Kazuichi wipes his face frantically. "N-no! No way!"

"Does this have anything to do with Princess Sonia?"

Kazuichi sits in silence. After a single endless minute, he quickly stands up and walks to the door without turning around. "Well! Good luck! Hajime! On your! Thing!"

Just as Kazuichi is about to step out the door, a growling sound comes from under the bed. "Did you... Hear something? Just now?"

Hajime tries to fake it as well as possible. "Y'see... that was... My furnace! Yeah, the thing makes these weird noises sometimes..."

"But that didn't sound like it was coming from the direction of your furnace..."

"Well anyway it was nice talking to you but you should probably get going now bye!" Hajime stands up and pushes Kazuichi outside. Before the pink-haired boy can utter another syllable, Hajime shuts the door. And locks it this time.

He leans against the door and wipes his brow, letting out a big sigh. A set of ears peek out from under the bed, and a soft voice, saying, "Is the coast clear?"

Hajime ruffles his feathers and walks back over to the bed. "Yeah, you can come out now."

Nagito sits down on the floor and hangs his head. "S-sorry about that. I haven't eaten since I left Inferna and my stomach just kinda..."

"Hey, it's no problem. Now that you're here, let me make you something!" Hajime walks into his kitchen and Nagito follows.

"So... About the invitation..."

"Yeah. That's gonna be a bit of a problem. If Chi finds out you're here..." Hajime shakes his head, not wanting to think about what she'd do.

Nagito turns away, sadly. "I'd rather not get you into any trouble... I can make it to the palace on my own; it's not like I'm here illegally..."

Hajime grabs Nagito's arm before he can do anything else. "N-no! You can't... You can't leave." Hajime lets go of Nagito's arm and sighs. "Look, Chiaki may seem like a really harsh person, and she can be, but I've known her all my life, and I know how understanding she can be also."

Neither of them utter a word for a small amount of time, until Nagito finally decides to speak up. "...Are you sure it'll be okay?"

The brunette gently grabs both of his partner's hands and smiles. "There's no way I'd let you leave, even if it wasn't."

They suddenly fall into an embrace, savoring each other's warmth for as long as possible, until Nagito's stomach lets out yet another impatient growl.

Hajime lets go, suddenly embarrassed, and blushes. "R-right. I was going to make you something." He looks a little disappointed for a moment, as does Nagito, but after a moment, he asks, "Do you... Have any preferences?"

Nagito smiles warmly. "I'm sure anything you make will taste good, Hajime."

"Well, I'm not much of a cook, but..." A loving expression appears on the mentioned boy's face. "I'll try my best."

Hajime insists that Nagito wait inside his room, (which isn't too far, Hajime has a small house) and comes back minutes later carrying a plate of curry and rice, setting it down on his desk table.

He looks at Nagito and gestures to the plate. "Go ahead. You look like you haven't eaten in weeks."

Nagito pauses. "...Aren't, you going to eat anything, Hajime?"

"N... Nah, I'm not really that hungry." Hajime shuffles a little. "Please. Just eat already."

Nagito gently picks up the fork and starts scarfing down the curry. As Hajime had suspected, he's really hungry. He blushes at how adorable the fluffy-tailed boy is when he eats.

Nagito thanks Hajime for the food and bows, but the brown-haired boy just laughs and says that wasn't necessary. He notices a bit of food stuck to Nagito's cheek, and, forgetting his better judgment, licks it off. Which makes both of them blush. Intensely.

Hajime takes a quick step back, embarrassed. "Ah! S-sorry, I wasn't really thinking..."

Nagito softly touches his still-blushing cheek. "N-no... It's okay... We are..." He pauses for a brief moment, obviously nervous about what he was going to say. "Lovers, after all."

Before Hajime can respond, he hears a knock at his door.
