The rain from last night left the pedals coated in droplets and some of the soil to overflow onto the pathmeant. After I flipped the closed sign to "Open," I threw on my apron and started to clean up the muddy soil off the ground. This routine wasn't uncommon for me; running a flower shop was a lot more work than some would expect.
"Welcome!" I greeted happily to an elderly couple who walked through the door. "Can I help you find anything today?"
"No need to be so nice to us, Wonwoo. We come here so often you should be used to us by now." The old man joked.
"Haha thanks for being such loyal customers!" I pulled a bucket of roses off the shelf next to me and handed it to his wife. "Here, this ones on me."
"Aigoo~" She smiled and padded my cheek; taking the bucket from my arms.
"Have a good day now Wonwoo!" They said as they left.
After I finished setting up, it was time to go pass out flyers. The sun made its full appearance and the streets became crowded within minutes. Some people would take a flyer or some would ignore me and continue walking; never anything I wasn't used to.
I glanced up for a few seconds to take in everything: how warm today was, how good it felt to give that old women the flowers she wanted, and how beautiful that girl looks. Wait. That girl. Across the street looking at hats in one of the shops.
"Whoa~" I mumbled.
I'd never seen a more perfect girl in my life. Her hair glistened under the suns light and her skin resinated the perfect amount of fairness. Her lips, covered in a soft pink, and her eyes were round and innocent. She stood short but I didn't mind at all; everything else made up for it.
"Watch it!" A man yelled, running into me, causing my flyers to sprawl all over the ground.
"Sorry!" I bowed and got on my knees to pick them up.
As I frantically tried to gather them I noticed a hand picking up some that I missed. I looked up and saw that it was her. The perfect girl.
"Some people can be real jerks can't they?" She said, leaning over to pick up some that had fallen behind me.
"Yeah." Was all I could respond with.
She giggled and brushed a strand of hair behind her ear. She then held a flyer in front of her and read it aloud. "Discount on any indoor plants and seeds. Hmm, I wouldn't mind taking up on this offer." She smiled.
"I- I can show you what we have. The sale started today so nothing's been picked through yet." I stuttered, helping her to her feet. I couldn't believe how soft and small her hands were; how delicate, just like a flower.
After showing her inside the shop, she picked out some yellow flowers and a package of seeds, then brought them to the front counter.
"Here." She said, handing me some money.
"Oh no you don't have to pay." Wow I'm being super friendly today aren't I?
"It's ok, I want to pay." She smiled.
After that she left my shop with a grin on her face.
I giggled under my breath, happy and flustered about what just happened. I was about to put the money in the register when I noticed something was written on the bill. I stretched it out and saw a name and a number with a message underneath that read:
'Maybe we can talk more about how people can be jerks, what do you say, Flower Boy?'
