Chapter 10

I woke up the next morning, showered, got dressed, and went to school with Sabrina. We talked about everything, until we went to class. I happened to walk by the locker room, and saw Lucas kiss Peyton. I walked over to them, and spoke to Lucas.

"What the hell? You're with Brooke, and here you are kissing Peyton. I love you Lucas, but I'm not going to sit here and let you hurt Brooke." I whispered to him because I didn't want anyone else to hear.

"I know, Kris, and I'm sorry, but I can't help the way I feel." Lucas replied as he tried to get over the shock that someone saw him.

"I know that, but you can't do this to Brooke. Brooke is one of my best friends, and you better tell her, or I will." I said back, before I left to go finish school.

School ended and Lucas and I haven't said a word since I told him off. I love him to death, but he can't just cheat like that, and lie about it. I honestly don't know what to do with him anymore, and I hope he does the right thing. I got home, changed, and went running because I needed to clear my head. I was running past the River Court when I saw Nathan teaching Haley how to shoot a free throw. I didn't like how he was standing too close to her, so I kept running, and hoped that they didn't see me.

"He did what?" Sabrina asked as we were on the phone.

"He was teaching Haley how to shoot a free throw, but he was standing too close to her." I replied with a sigh.

"Did it look like something more?" Sabrina asked.

"I don't know, but I hope not because then I look like a fool for giving him a chance." I replied while finishing up my homework.

We talked for a few more minutes before we hung up, and I got ready for bed. I woke up the next morning, did my routine, and went to school with Sabrina. We went to talk to her uncle, Coach Whitey, and ran into Nathan. He smiled at us, but we just kept going.

"Hey Coach." I said as we walked into his office.

"Hello girls, what brings you by?" Coach asked as we sat down.

"We just wanted to see how you're doing, since you're going to win your 500th game." I replied with a smile.

"Thanks girls and I'm doing as good as I'm going to get." Coach said back with a smile.

"What is it, uncle? I know that something's wrong, so please don't lie to us." Sabrina asked, and I knew that something was wrong because she had a scared look on her face.

Whitey sighed before he said, "This is my last year coaching." Sabrina and I were shocked to hear that because we weren't suspecting that.

"Why? Don't you like coaching anymore?" Sabrina asked close to tears.

"I love coaching, but I honestly don't believe that I've made a difference here." Whitey replied, and that broke my heart.

"You have made a difference. You've made a difference for us. If it wasn't for you then I wouldn't be sitting here. You taught me to fight for what I really want, and that's what I did." I said while trying to keep the tears from falling.

"Thank you for that Kristi, but I want the team to tell me that, and I don't think that, that's going to happen. I would really appreciate it if you girls kept this to yourselves until I've told the team." Whitey said with a sad smile.

Sabrina and I agreed, and left after that. We hugged him before we left, and I still couldn't wrap my head around it. We spotted Nathan and Haley walking together, and that just made everything worse. Sabrina and I went home, and just hung out. I can't believe that Nathan is messing with Haley. I guess Lucas was right all along about him, and I can't wait to go off on Nathan. Sabrina and I were making something to eat when my phone rung.
