Lexi's POV
Ever feel the way I feel every morning when it’s a weekend? Like, you wake up to feel the warm morning sun, hear the birds chirping and smell the sweet morning air through your window?
I woke up this morning feeling just that way. Until the sweet bird-chirping-air-smell moment was interrupted by a mother with an impressively high voice range.
“Alexandria, could you please drive Jonah to the barber’s?” My mother screamed. I groaned, thinking, why NOW? But then Jonah, my 7 year old little brother came up to me and said, with his huge brown eyes, “Oh please, sis, look at my hair, it’s disastrous!” He begged as he clutched my skirt, and though I knew my mother set him up for this, I just couldn't deny him, I just love him too much for that. Sometimes it’s good to have such an adorable little brother.
“Fine. Let me just grab my jacket.” I sighed. I quickly went upstairs to my room and a thought hit me, and I cursed. Just when I needed it, I remember I lent my car to my, ugh, boyfriend. Liam.
“Jo-nah, Liam has my car, want to take your bike and I'll walk you there?” I asked him as I went downstairs, though he raised an eyebrow, he smiled and nodded eagerly.
It took us about an hour to reach there as Jonah stopped every 5 seconds to pet a cat or to talk to some neighbors. I smiled, everyone loves Jonah. He’s so adorably nice to everything and everyone that you just can’t say no. Really.
When we finally reached the barber’s, it was completely deserted, with the exception of the barber, and his current customer. And boy, was he hot.
'Alex, shutup! You have a boyfriend' I scowled at myself. I just hate my own logic sometimes, it just snaps me back to reality when I so want stay in dreamland.
“Hey, I want to get him a haircut.” I told the barber finally.
He nodded and said ''The usual?” while staring at Jonah, in which he responded with a happy “Yup!” and a tug on the barber’s left sleeve.
“Oh!” I gasped. “So you guys know each other?” I asked, looking at the two of them.
“Yeah, Jonah always comes here with his mom to get a haircut.” He stared at Jonah. “Right little buddy?”
“Right!” Jonah replied.
Just then my phone started to ring. It bore one name;
Liam.
“Umm, excuse me, I have to take this.” I told the barber.
“Sure, no problem.” He said.
“Hello.” I said, but no matter how hard I try, my voice just can’t muster up a happy tone. Liam’s probably drunk again, and I’m in no mood to be annoyed by his vices.
“Hey babe, wanna go out tonight?” He slurred. I was right, he’s drunk.
But then again, he always is.
Then, I heard a girl giggle from the back of the phone. And it wasn’t just one girl. “Oh, Liam! Stop it!” They said.
So he was cheating.
I couldn't help but feel torn.
So I hung up.
Best thing I ever did.
“Hey Alex, is everything alright?” Jonah asked.
I nodded. “Yeah Jonah,” I said while giving him a fake smile.
Fortunately he was young, and he bought it. So he asked, “So, what time is Liam taking us skating?”
Shoot! Liam had promised Jonah he was going to take him skating, but there is no way in this universe that will let that piece of sh!t near Jonah. Not in this lifetime or the next.
“Umm… Jonah, Liam isn't going to be coming over anymore. Ever.” I said, trying to make it less awkward for him.
“So who's going to take me skating?” he asked.
“I would love to do it but that sh-Liam, has my car.” I said.
“I'll drive” said the barber.
“Yeah! Martin can take us!” Jonah smiled.
So Martin was his name.
But was I going to let a barber who I never met before take me and my brother skating?
“I don't know if mom will be okay with this..” I told them.
“Of course she will be, mom loves Martin.” Jonah said.
So Martin met mom? Then logic snapped in, Duh, she takes him here for a haircut almost every month.
“I don't know...” I said, still unsure.
“I'll pass by your mom's place and see if she's okay with this.”He offered and Jonah gave me one of his adorable puppy dog faces that you couldn't say no to. Crap, they’re good.
I gave in. “I guess that’s fine then.”
