No matter how far I think back to what happened just one month ago, I still can't grasp the very fact that, one, somehow, I am dating Martin. The hot barber Martin that I met at the local barber shop just last month and two, I am, somehow, but not entirely, his unofficial girlfriend. How did that happen?
And before I know it, I keep getting these weird thumbs ups from Mom whenever Martin and I go out on a date. And, to make it even worse, even Jonah starts doing it, even though he doesn't know what it mean!
.....
Well, but, when you get past the annoying mom and clueless brother, dating Martin, is actually kinda fun. Because I started feeling these feelings that I thought were lost to me long ago. Like, the feeling in your stomach you get every time you see the guy you like walk beside you, talk to you, and laugh with you. Or, these feelings of anticipation and excitement whenever you wait for him to pick you up on a date. Something like that.
....
For today's date (it's our eight date this month, I'm counting), Martin decided that we go to the park. I'm a little skeptical about this because, one, the park is boring, it's dirty, and many people go there everyday. Two, because, I read in this magazine article that mom lent me that a relationship tends to break because of boring dates. So, not to freak out on you, but I'm freaking out.
So, when Martin came this afternoon, I was totally freaking out. The reason I'm freaking out? Simple, I'm scared of losing him like how I lost Liam. It was a bad breakup, and though I'm fine now, everything's not fine with Liam (I'm not going to go to the details now, sorry). And, I'm scared, cause, with Liam, I was always the sad one, even before he became the bad boy he is now. But, with Martin, it was never like that. I was happy. Could it be love?
When Martin and I reached the park, he held my hand, and all my worries instantly melted away. Just looking at his eyes, I knew, nothing, nothing, can go wrong.
...
Oh how wrong was I.
...
Just a few hours after we began our date, Martin got a call. It was his sister, Lainie. She was coming home for her semestral break, and she and her friend, who was staying over, needed a ride.
Martin, at first, looks distressed. "um, we might have to end our date a little earlier than expected."
I chuckled. "How about I come with you as well?"
He raised an eyebrow, "Ya okay with that?"
"Sure! I'm dying to meet your family."
He smiled. "Why not?"
....
When we got to the airport, I escorted Martin, then, this statuesque blond girl runs up to him and hugs him tight. I started thinking, Aww, his sister missed him so much. Until I found out that that girl wasn't his sister.
It was worse. She's his sister's best friend, and his childhood friend.
And the worst thing is, not only does it show that she has the hots for him, but she's gorgeous!
