~Adrianna Valencia~
"Mom?" I tilted my head and walked towards what seemed to be shelves full of different sorts of mirrors.
Large square mirrors, small mirrors... I looked at each of them gawking in awe at the designs that was engraved in the wood.
One of them in particular had caught my eye.
A large beautiful indigo framed mirror with golden trimmings on each corner, and on the back, it displayed a painting of the starry night skies with a swan swimming gracefully on the pond, and a mirrored version of it on the bottom.
"I'm totally getting this..."I took the mirror and layed it on my back, struggling to carry it all the way to where I knew I would find my mom.
The makeup isle.
Some people might be asking,
'Why haven't you gone there if you knew that your mom would be there?'
I would chuckle and explain that a fat lady was blocking my way. Plus, even though I wanted to find my mom, I still wanted to be able to explore the area and be able to find an item to buy."Adi?" I lifted my head up to look at the owner of the voice and stared at her. She looked like she was gangbanged by crayola
"Too much makeup." Was all I said before asking her to buy the mirror. She looked shocked at my choice of item, fully knowing that I'm not into makeup and beauty and all that. Normally, she denies all my requests and doesn't even bother to hide the fact that she really didn't care, but now, seeing that I wanted to buy something that's only a bit related to beautifying myself, she smiled at me and carried the mirror towards the cashier.
"How much for the mirror and the makeup?" I fiddled with my fingers looking around the area trying to decide what I should buy when I earn enough money.
'A journalist's notebook would be nice.'
I was about to grab the notebook in front of me, when my mom took my hand and pulled me towards the car excitedly.
"We are going to have so much fun! I knew you inherited my love for beauty! You're just a late bloomer!" I rolled my eyes and chuckled at my mom's excitement deciding that only this ONE time, I'm going to let her 'beautify' my face.A few agonizing hours later, my mom finished.
Surprisingly, I actually admired her work when I looked at myself through the mirror. I was so entranced by it, that I never noticed my mom smiling and slipping out of my room.
After awhile, I snapped myself out of my daze and decided to walk around the street.
"Lookin' good, Adi!" I heard a few cat calls from the boys on the other side of the street and smirked.
I guess beauty is power when applied to the opposite gender.
"Adrianna?" I looked up, hearing a familiar voice and smiled cheerfully.
"Hi, Vi!" My smile even widened when I saw that she was gawking at me. Probably thinking that I'm beautiful... I think that I said that out loud...
"What the heck is wrong with you?!" I felt a sharp slap on my left cheek, and reached my hand towards it to caress it.
After getting through my shock, I glared at her angrily and snarled.
"What do you mean 'what the heck'?! I'm beautiful! All the boys in the street-"
Slap.
Yet another painful slap on the cheek.
Violette growled, then sighed.
"Look at yourself. One minute, you didn't care about your looks... And now... Tch." She gave me one last look in the eye and turned her back at me and left.
After processing what had just happened, I gasped in horror. I ran back to my house, stumbling and letting out a string of curses, and looked at the indigo mirror."What have I done..."
I stared longingly at the mirror in front me, and unknowingly, a tear slipped past.
'Adrianna.. '
I didn't bother to look at the door, knowing that it was my mother calling me for some silly request.
'Adrianna...'
I clenched my fists together and glared at the ground.
"Go away, mom."'Look up...'
For some reason, I immediately obeyed orders and looked at the mirror in front of me.
A grinning figure of myself held out her hand towards me.'Come... I'll make the pain go away...'
Without even thinking that the mirror had its own mind and body, I stood up and desperately held on to the hand as it pulled me deeper.
Deeper into the black abyss.
Not even realizing that the figure has replaced me in the real world.
I've been...
Mirrored.
