?????? POV.

Slow agonizing pain came into her consciousness.  How had it gotten there?

How had she gotten here?

Miri's POV.

"I'll be leaving now," I said to Elise.

"Sure thing..." Elise replied.

I picked up my belongings and ran out the door. "Here we go..."

I finally arrived at the place I wanted to be the most.  The wind blew my  chestnut hair back.   The crash of waves  beating against the golden beach resounded in my head.

"Glad you came!" Millie called to me.

"Of course," I replied with a wave.  "I'll clean the west side of the beach."  I hurriedly grabbed a bag and ran ahead.  Back to business for me.

I slowly walked along the edge of the beach.  It's rather clean today, I thought happily.  I wouldn't have to dirty my fingers too much.  Millie was always a nature lover and dragged me into these kind of events.  Dog-washing, nature hikes,  beach cleanings,  all of it was Millie's idea.  If it were by choice, I would be at home resting right now.  Millie had a way of bending the truth and making you believe it.  So here I was, stuck at the beach.

"Mhm..."

I leaned closer to the big, dark lump I found on the ground.  I poked it.

"Well,  it's not a piece of trash so I'll leave it alone," I said.  Then I spun on my heel like I've seen people do in movies and walked away.

Except.....I might have accidentally tripped on the tiny grains of sand all over the beach.
And I might have accidentally fallen into the water.
And I MIGHT have gotten myself wet.  Of course, it's all just hypothetical.

But anyway, after what might have happened, I took a closer look at the lump that laid next to me.  I jumped out of my skin.  It was...a human...a girl.  She had pale golden hair that was evidently wet from the salty waves. Her pale skin seemed to glow in the fading light of the sunset. Weird. I'll have to report this.  The sand wedged it's way in between my toes as I ran to the east side.

"Millie!  I found something...someone on the west side!"  Millie, hunched over a plastic bag, jerked up.

"WHAT DID YOU SAY?!"   She said in alarm. She threw the bag over to one of the others cleaning the beach and ran over.  "You found a person lying on the beach?  How?"

"Don't ask me," I grumbled.  "She was just lying there, and its obvious she got washed up."  It took us a few minutes to run to the west side.  When we got there, Millie started inspecting the blondie. To be honest, she was taking this very well.  I half panicked when I saw her lying there.  Half.  Millie started poking her.

"Is she still alive?" She asked.  I nodded.

"I checked her pulse," I said. "It's beating...somehow.  It's still steady."  Millie prodded her once again with a stick.

"M-Miri!" Millie shrieked.  "Look!  She's awake!" It was true.  I couldn't help but stare at her eyes.  They were crystalline blue, and seemed to pierce through the soul.  To be honest, it kind of creeped me out.  I've never seen eyes so strikingly beautiful--or cold.

"..."

"Um...sorry, what was that?"  I asked.

"O-o-ow..."  she whispered.  "Th-this hurts..."  Millie laughed, either in relief or just extremely astounded.

"Can you stand?"  she asked.  The girl nodded.  Then muttered another "Ow."

"What should we do with her?" I asked Millie.  She thought for a bit.

"Lets bring her to the hospital for a check-up.  Then we can call the police, or the adults."

"Got it!"

"....."  Seriously, that girl has got to speak up!

"Could you repeat that?" I asked.

"...I want to see...friend...?"  she said.  I sighed. We were getting nowhere with her.

"What do you remember?" I asked.  "Your parents?  Family, friends, relatives?"

She thought for a bit.  "...No...thing..."  I was starting to make a frustrated expression at Millie, who was supporting her to stand.  She mouthed, "Calm down."

"What about...your name?" I tried again.

"Um...Kai...ya?" she said, making it sound like a suggestion.

"How do you spell that?" I asked, trying to keep up the conversation.

"...don't know."  At that moment I wanted to bang her on the head.

"Hey now, Kaiya,  was it?  So, looks like you have amnesia.  We're gonna get you to a doctor soon, okay?"  Millie said.

"..."

"Um...Kaiya?  A reply would be nice!" I said sarcastically.

"..."

"Um, Miri?  Kaiya's unconscious."  Millie said.  "And she's reaallyy heavy."

"Oh, ok."  I said.  I stopped.

"Wait, WHAT?!"
