Liam walked across the school courtyard, bag slung over one shoulder. His jeans were skinny. His shirt, a white button down tucked in, and a navy blue sweater over the top. Aviator sunglasses hid his green eyes.
"Liam!" A voice shouted from the opposite side of the courtyard. Liam stopped, and turned. His sister ran after him. She wore short jean shorts and a light hoodie, white converse, and her hair pulled into a braided bun. She was starting high school this year.
"Lauren, what were you doing?" He asked.
"Sorry, mom was giving me a goodbye speech."
"Oh. Today, it's going to be hard. You have a problem, Josh and I will come take care of it. Okay?" Liam said.
"Thanks, Liam." Lauren replied, smiling.
"Come on." Liam put his arm around her. Together, they walked into the building. Liam looked at his schedule.8:00- AP Calculus

The bell rang, a 5 minute warning. Liam smiled and kissed his sister on the forehead.
"I need to go, but find me if you have a problem. Okay?"
"Okay! I will." Lauren grinned and pushed her brother away, and ran down the hall to class.*****************
"Hello class. I'm Brad. Today, I want you to write a short story of your choosing. They are due at the end of class, and will not be graded. This is just an assessment on what you can do, so don't stress. There is 45 minutes left of class, so get to work." Lauren thought about what to write. It had to be good, but not amazing. Then an idea came to her. From the time her pencil touched the paper, she didn't stop writing until 5 minutes before class ended. She was proud of herself. She had written two and a half pages, and turned it in on time. The rest of the day was a blur.

Liam jogged down the hall to his sisters locker.
"Hurry up, Lo." He said. Lauren looked at him and smiled. She slums her backpack over her shoulder and walked out the doors with Liam. Their mom was just outside the courtyard gates, waiting.
"Hi mom!" Lauren said throwing her backpack in, and crawling in after it. Liam got in after her. They talked about school all the way home. They pulled into the garage. Liam hopped out, Lauren followed.
"Lauren, hon, go check the mail please." Their mom said.
"Sure mom." Lauren slung her bag over her shoulder again, and jogged over to the mail box. She opened it. She shuffled through the mail. She stopped and her jaw dropped. Lauren ran inside.
"Mom! Look!" She yelled, thrusting the small card into her mothers hands. It read:
