dan was sitting on the bus like any usual saturday for him. he was kindly on his way to work and casually listening to One Direction through his half-broken, half-tangled headphones and staring at his pale hands. dan wasnt one for much human interaction, resulting in him feeling extremely awkward while sitting in the small space between a plump old lady and a thin boy. it took about 20 minutes to get where dan needed to be so he had alot of time to spare, seeing as he had only joined the transit about 5 minutes ago.
since dan was not a fan of the public, he felt even more awkward then before when he looked up and around to see a lanky boy with dark fringe and burning blue eyes staring at him; or at least he thought he was staring at him.
to think about it now, dan wasnt sure if the boy was staring at him or through the window directly behind dans head. he tried to move a little bit to see if the boy changed the direction of his stare, but soon realized it was impossible without being too obvious and seeming rude. dan wasnt a fan of being looked at, especially by strangers, thinking that someone would always be judging him by one of his many flaws.
of course, dan has always been insecure about himself, but recently is been worse than usual. he had just turned 19 a month or so ago and dropped out of law school, landing him in the obvious and expected existential crisis. when dan left, his parents werent the happiest knowing their child was a college dropout, but still loved him nonetheless. even though dan knew that leaving law school was for the better, seeing as he couldnt actually see himself being a serious lawyer, he couldnt help but feel like he was quitting on a big part of his life, like his whole life was going to fall into a deep pit of failure now that he quit school.
the good thing is, dan still had his job which consisted of dan sweeping up the popcorn and snacks in the thin isles of the movie theaters. it was a terrible job and dan hated it, along with his boss, but it paid for his rent so it's better than being unemployed.
even though dan thinks he's flawed in a lot ways, the boy (who was definitely staring at dan) thought otherwise. according to the boy with the raven hair, dan was the prettiest boy he's ever seen, with dans brown eyes and hair to match. even though the boy with curious eyes thought dan was so beautiful, he still watched as dan waited for the bus to come to a complete stop, and get off to be on his way to his oh so lovely job.
