I woke up and it was 10:23. Sofia and I stayed up late last night. I wasn't surprised that her roommates weren't here yet, considering they had a long ways to travel. I looked down at my phone and noticed that it was 10:30, I decided that it was a good time for me to leave her place.

I wondered where Sofia went because she was no longer sleeping next to me in the living room. I noticed a pink post it on the door with her neat handwriting. Turns out she woke up at 7:30 to get breakfast with her family and didn't want to wake me. She was always a considerate roommate in that manner.

I shook my head, she must have gotten no more than 2 hours of sleep. I made my way back to my apartment crossing the hallway slowly, the sleep still evident in my sluggish movement. I began to wonder what I should eat. I could opt to go buy something, but I did that all weekend. I figured I should probably cook. I didn't want to go grocery shopping until my roommates were here, so I decided we would go later once they were all settled. Breakfast would have to wait.

I stuck my flimsy red west minnus keycard into the door and waited to see the familiar green light. Once I entered that apartment I heard the sound of a zipper and instantly perked up, excited that one of my friends was finally here.

I walked towards the two rooms to see who it was it was. Lainey was unpacking her clothes. Just like me, she chose the bed on the right side of the room. We greet each other with a "Heyyyyy bitch!" I pull out my phone and snapchat her being here. I watch her unpack and get organized. She unpacks as we talk and she says,

"Girl I saw some dads walking over here. I'm gonna snatch this semester."

"dang I could have a dad this semester, but I need to focus on school. I'm a new bitch." Lainey sighs at me. I burst out into laughter and say "Bitch I'm snatching everyone's man."

Going into college, Lainey had no clue what she wanted to major in. There were so many different options and she wasn't sure what was right for her. Last semester she decided that she wanted to major in business marketing. We were all proud of her for figuring out what she wanted to do.

I've known Lainey since my freshman year of high school. We weren't necessarily close then, but now that's my bitch. We lived on the same floor last year, our freshman year of college. We went to our first party together, watched each other get fucked up. Lainey is a really good friend. She's tall, light skinned, with small eyes that almost disappear when you make her laugh.

Sometimes we compare Lainey to a cat. Whenever one of us comes home we usually find her curled up in her bed taking a cat nap. She also enjoys sunbathing more than she should.

Besides napping, she also loves music. Her obsession with Chance the Rapper started in High school. We find ourselves handing her the aux chord when we are in the car, or telling her to put on music when the apartment is too quiet. She has more lyrics memorized than anyone I know. Ranging from Drake to Justin Bieber to random christmas songs, she has every lyric memorized.

It's no secret that Lainey is the life of the party, as a result all of the boys want her. As the complex individual that she is, she simply hasn't found anyone who was worth her time.

"Emma hold the door open", I hear Emma's mother instructing her. Lainey and I go to help her carry her belongings. But we soon realize there isn't much to haul in. Tyler, Emma's boyfriend, has most of the bags. They place all of Emma's things in her room and we watch as her mother inspects the room. She smiles approvingly, telling us all to take care as she exits the apartment.

Emma is short, petite, and Japanese. Such a stark contrast to Tyler, he's tall, fit and white. They both share the same dark brown hair, athletic ability and kind heart. We all exchange hugs and stories about summer.
