Any 'normal' person would have, probably, already chucked up and run away at the sight of Mr Collins, but I went back to look over him. I don't have a strong stomach at the best of times! And yet here I am going back to look at a disfigured body.
**
Searching the body again, I look at his half raised right sleeve on his shirt. I search in my pocket for the tape and find a leather glove. I put it on and raise his sleeve fully.
No tattoo.
I stumble backwards. A strange sick feeling erupts in my stomach. I keep stumbling till I fall to the ground.
I hear Jay's voice at the top other ally and quickly stand and lower the sleeve again.
"What do they really mean, Jay?" I ask timidly, unbelievable shaken up by the sight.
"No one really knows, Raz. But be carful. For me?"
I nod. I couldn't find any words to say. Is that why I'm here?
I stumble again. Jay stands over me and helps me to my feet.
"Easy, Raz! It's a shock the first few times."
"What the fuck do you mean 'first few times"? Don't tell me this isn't the first body you've seen like this!?"
"Okay. I won't. But he will!"
He points to the top of the ally where other officers are starting to arrive. Captain was ahead of everyone else; coming Straight towards us.
"Good find, Raz." Captain says and pats my back.
I lose my balance again; Jay catches me before I fall.
"Jason. Head back to HQ and run through the other cases with Raz. It may take a while so if you need to take the files to Razzy's."
"On it."
