He never thought that he would ever see her again, not in this lifetime at least. But there she stood, under the glow of the broken streetlight on the corner of Mirkwood. Her hair was longer than he remembered but then again the last time he saw her was almost a year ago. Mike shuddered at the thought of all those nights he spent worrying about her. "Mike?" the word freed from her pale lips as he realized that he was just standing there in shock. He ran towards Eleven and held her tightly. She seemed shorter, but maybe that was because he grew a lot in the past year, Eleven didn't. She buried her face in the collar of his jacket and mike didn't seem to mind.
After almost an hour of talking, explaining, and exchanging warm glances, it began to rain. Eleven was wearing nothing but Nancy's dress and the old white sneakers (which were now of course blackened with age) that Mike gave her all those months ago. Mike took off his navy windbreaker, pulled his red hoodie from over his head, and handed them to Eleven. She looked up, looking worried. "Are you cold?" "No." Mike shivered in his striped t-shirt as he gave a crooked smile, hair flopping every which way. He hadn't had a haircut in a while, he was beginning to look a bit scruffy.
Before the pair had begun to walk towards Mike's house, Eleven paused. "You ok, El?" Mike said. Eleven didn't answer. She was taking him all in, Taking Mike in. Remembering all of the things she had forgotten about him, and learning new ones just by looking at him. His eyes, his freckles, and the indent in his hair left by his fingers. Mike always used to run his fingers through his hair when he was nervous. Eleven smiled.
