Ash, Leaf and May were walking down route 101, and the sun began to set. May pulled out a map, and she and Leaf looked over it.

"Well, we won't make it Oakdale Town until tomorrow night, so we should probably get set up to camp out." Leaf

"Good idea." Ash said. He frowned for a moment then pointed to a grassy path sheltered by trees on the side of the worn path. "How about there?"

"Looks good." Leaf replied.

"Uh, what about dinner?" May asked. Ash and Leaf slowly looked at each other.

"That's gonna be a problem, I think." Leaf said. May grinned.

"Never fear, I always have food." She pulled out some fruit and cheese. "Well, maybe not feast material." She said. The trio sat down and put us their respective tents. May didn't have a tent, so she and Leaf were going to share. Ash got some wood to start a small campfire, while Leaf helped May divide out some of her food. Soon, they were all around the campfire as night fell. Pikachu, Charmander and Torchic were resting beside the tents.

"Well May, I'm glad you brought something in the way of food." Ash said.

"So am I." She replied. Not long after they retired to their tents. Pikachu drowsily wandered into Ash's tent whilst the girls returned their Pokemon before entering their tent. Ash noticed how warm it was, and glanced at his sleeping bag. Won't be needing that, Ash thought as he pulled of his clothes, changing into a red shirt and black shorts, before laying on his sleeping bag. The girls, also opted to sleep on their sleeping bags rather than in them. Both slept in a just a shirt and undergarments.

At dawn, Ash woke, along with Pikachu, to hear snuffling outside his tent. He went to investigate, Pikachu on his shoulder, to find a grey and black Pokemon now investigating the ashes of the campfire. Ash reached inside his tent slowly and pulled out his pokedex and a pokeball. Ash held his pokedex up to the Pokemon to discover that it was a Poochyena.

"Cool!" Ash said. The Poochyena suddenly turned to he and Pikachu, and looked at them curiously. It dawned on Ash that Poochyena might be hungry, seeing as it was sniffing around the campsite. He slowly reached into his bag, and pulled out some Pokemon food. He then offered it to Poochyena, who approached cautiously. Ash slowly edged forward, Pikachu carefully walked forward beside him, as Poochyena carefully took the pokemon food from Ash's hand. Ash then carefully put his hand into his bag, and pulled out some more. Soon, Poochyena had eaten most if what Ash had on him, Ash realising this as he reached for more and felt the bottom of the can. He carefully pulled his hand out of his bag, Poochyena disappointed, and by the looks of his aggressive stance, not impressed, Ash noted. Pikachu took a stance in front of Ash, and Ash grabbed the pokeball he'd bought earlier.

"Alright Pikachu, give him a taste of your Thundershock!" Pikachu responded with the bolt of electricity which honed in on Poochyena, causing it to stumble backwards a few paces. Pikachu stepped forward, as a Poochyena shook off the attack and bounded towards Pikachu.

"Dodge Pikachu!" Ash commanded, his voice beginning to rise from the original hushed tone. Poochyena barrelled past Pikachu as it leapt to the side in the nick of time, but Pikachu was off balance when Poochyena rounded on the electric type with surprising speed and lunged forward, jaws coated in fire.

"Wow! Fire Fang!" Ash said, impressed. "Jump Pikachu!" Ash added. Pikachu did so, only to be met head on as Poochyena leapt up as well, clamping down on Pikachu. Pikachu landed awkwardly falling to its back as Poochyena continued its agressive approach, jaws still coated in flames.

"Thundershock! Give it all you've got buddy!" Ash cried. Pikcahu rose, and released the attack, which charged towards the Poochyena, shocking it. This time, Poochyena stumbled, and Ash capitalised, tossing the pokeball that he had been holding. It struck Poochyena, enveloping it with a red glow, before its form was condensed into the ball. Ash clenched his fists anxiously, as he watched the ball rattle with infrequent timing. Suddenly, catching the tense Ash by surprise, stopped, and a white glow shine briefly before fading away. Ash let out a whoop of success, before rushing over to scoop up the pokeball with his first capture. Pikachu let out a happy cry, scrambling onto Ash's shoulder. This was all brought to a shuttering halt when a suitably annoyed looking Leaf emerged from the second tent.
