Fifteen Days With Beauty And The Beach
“My presence isn’t needed in your meeting, father.” I state for the hundredth time
“Just ... join us. You definitely need to hear about this.” He said and we entered the conference room. Around eight people were already surrounding the long table and two seats were left vacant. I looked around, noticing nothing new. I saw Marie waving at me across the room and I smiled at her, bitter sweetly.
“This meeting wouldn’t be long. Xavier and I would like to have an announcement.” Mr Davidson said, but I could totally smell something is extremely fishy. My father nodded, agreeing with his sentence.
“Callaway Resorts Incorporated will now be merged with Davidson Leisure and Relaxation Inc.” Father paused; the conference room was filled with murmurs from his other employees and stockholders. I looked at Marie, my father’s assistant. She met my gaze and shook her head at me, disapprovingly.
Perhaps she didn’t know this was coming too. Marie’s a close office friend of mine, since she always had the lookout for me when my father was about to do anything stupid. She reports me beforehand everything my father’s about to tell me. She’s my briefer, for short.
She does these things for me since she understands what I’m going through.
“And what am I going to do after you get merged?” I asked, my tone was showing them I wasn’t interested with any of this.
“That’s where you come in, Diana.” Mr. Davidson winked at me and it almost made me puke my breakfast. “Your father and I decided that the fastest way we’d get our companies merged is where we need to find a connection.” He pointed his finger at me and I rolled my eyes. “That connection is, you.”
“I’m not a wireless internet connection!” I rant and some of the stockholders laughed under their breaths.
“You’re going to get married!” Mr. Davidson said with glee which made me shut the fuck up.
“You said what now?” I asked, my eyes were widening every second. “No! No way. There’s nothing in this world that will make me marry anyone. Especially at this moment, it feels so wrong! You people are talking about marriage! Are you out of your minds? Dad!” I scream, my breathing was getting heavier.
“You’re going to be the next CEO, Ana darling.” My father finally spoke, his tone was low. “Mr. Davidson’s son will be your husband and you’re going to get married next month.” He said with an unsure tone, yet his eyes were looking so enthusiastic.
Someone please save me from this nightmare.
I stood up from my seat and said, “You people are insensitive! Why couldn’t you just leave me alone? I’m old enough to make my decisions with who am I going to marry or whatsoever. Thank you for suggesting who he will be, but I won’t take your suggestion.”
“I know you’ll love him, darling!” Mr. Davidson persuades, his sweet tongue isn’t working with me.
“Love him? Please hit the crap out of me.” I mutter under my breath and walked out of the conference room.
-.-
“When did he plan this? I mean, why didn’t you know?” I paced back and forth inside my father’s office, questioning Marie repeatedly.
“He didn’t mention anything about it ... I knew the merging was coming up but that marriage subject? Oh God no.” Marie answered; her clipboard was gripped so tight that her knuckles were white. “What do you want to do now?” She asked, her voice was full of sympathy.
“I don’t even know what Davidson’s son looks like!” I pulled my hair; the stress was getting in to me. I stopped pacing and looked at Marie. I shook my head and groaned.
“Actually no, I wasn’t even aware Mr. Davidson has a son!” She answered, at the same time, we both sighed. It feels so tiring to think over and over on how to slither out with this extremely mortifying problem. How could my father do this to me?
“How do you plan on slithering out on this one?” Marie asked and my eyes closed gently. I rubbed my temples with my fingers and sighed again.
I shot my eyes wide open, my lips were crawling its way from ear to ear. I looked at the picture frame sitting on father’s table. “What do you have in mind?” My head snapped back to Marie’s place, she was already sitting properly and she was smiling as well.
“Book me a ticket.” I said, Marie’s face got confused. I smirked and showed her the picture frame. “Remember Dad and Mom’s anniversary party last year?”
“It was a beach party in Hawaii ...” She stopped blabbering and took out her phone. “How many days would you want to stay?” She raised her eyebrow and I twirled to face the calendar. I hummed a song and smiled.
“Don’t give them a departure from destination date.” We both smirked and Marie nodded. She continued talking to the person on the other line and I stared at the large window overlooking the ocean.
This is going to be a hell of a vacation.
