Chapter One – A Whole New Start.

J E A N C Y R U S

“Jean, wake up! We have to go in 5 minutes!” my mom’s voice is heard all over the house; every corner; every room.

Ugh. I hate first days of school. I stood up and walked right to my closet; half-asleep. I opened my eyes to check clothes to wear and I got a simple shirt with a print that says, “I’m sexy and I know it”. I got a pair of skinny jeans. I slipped them on and got my converse shoes. I put them on, too.

I walked to my bathroom and washed my face. I brushed my teeth. I combed my hair and pulled it into a messy bun. Now, I’m ready for Royalty Academy.

“Jean, go out.” My younger sister, Jenny, told me off as we reached school.

“What? Stop acting like you’re older than me. You’re just in your first day of first grade.” I smirked.

“Jean, stop that,” Mom told me off. I looked at Jenny and she stuck her tongue out.

“I will pull that.” I hissed.

“You sure you c—“ before she even finished her sentence, I pulled her tongue and let go of it immediately.

“I’m pretty sure.” I smirked and got out as soon as possible because I’m also sure that Mom will shout at me. That, my friends, is not a good way to introduce myself to this whole new school.

I immediately walked to the Dean’s Office and told them that I need my schedule. They gave it to me in no time and here I am, stuck in a classroom full of delinquent senior students.

“Hey, I’m Francine.” A girl, with dirty blonde hair and a pair of eyeglasses greeted me.

“Hey,” I know I’m rude but not all the time.

“So… what’s your name?”

“Jean Cyrus,” I answered. She sat beside me and made herself comfortable.

“Oh… nice name. So, how do you think can people recognize you? I mean… you’re new and—“

“I play basketball,” I started, cutting her off. “If I join the basketball team, is that enough? Now, I need to listen to this stupid freak in front writing lectures, so mind excusing me?” I know it was rude but that shut her off and it made me great—really great.

The bell rang after an hour and I immediately went out of the classroom and walked to my Chemistry Class. I bumped into this tall guy that felt like he’s the king of the world.

“Watch it,” I gave him a dirty look and walked away. Someone grabbed my arm after a couple of steps and saw that it was the guy I bumped into.

“What? Did I got your dignity with me when I bumped into you?” I gave him a deadly stare and pulled my arm.

“You have the guts to do that?” he smirked.

“Who do you think you are?” I faced him, arms crossed on chest. “You are no king… you have no right to tell me off.”

“And you are no queen. Why do you feel like you’re great? In fact, you’re a geek.” Now, everybody stops to listen to our argument.

“Whatever you say.” I pulled my arm away from his grasp and walked away.

The day went by and I didn’t see that over-confident guy again. Now, it’s time for try-outs.

I walked in the gym with my shorts and shirt on.

“Excuse me, lady. But, cheerleading practices are on the field,” someone dared say.

“Sorry? I came here to try-out for the BASKETBALL team.” I emphasized the word—BASKETBALL.

Mouths gaped open. Whispering everywhere. Ugh!

“Stop whispering, okay?” I irritably told them. They buzz suddenly stopped and someone walked in.

“Why the actual fuck are you here?!”
