Writing Prompt: "It won't make a difference if I'm incomplete."

"UGH!! This obviously isn't working!" Michael throws down his goggles and groans into his arms. Being a scientist, Michael would sometimes lock himself inside his lab for an extended period of time. If anything, he'd leave the lab to eat, use the restroom, or getting more supplies. But now being more experience in robotics, he's made himself little helpers (and a bathroom) inside his lab so he rarely leaves it if he's working on a major project.

This being one of those days.

He groaned again in frustration, but didn't look up when a hand was placed on his shoulder.

"Why don't you take a break?"

"Because, if I do, whatever concentration I have left will be lost..." Peeking over his arms he stared at the lifeless artificial heart he'd been working on for the past three months. He felt that, the longer he stared, hopefully he'd see at least a beat come from it.

"Still, you haven't slept nor ate in five days! It's not good for your heal-"

Michael stood up abruptly. "AND YOU WITHOUT A HEART ISN'T ANY BETTER EITHER!" His voice echoed through the room. Silence followed as he and the shorter female stared at each other for a few minutes before he sat down and covered his face. "I'm sorry... It's just..." He sighs.

JP walks up to the heart and picks it up. "Why do I need this anyway? I'm perfectly fine with-"

"You are not fine! You're unstable and I can tell.." He stands up before walking over to her.

"W-what do you mean 'unstable'?" She nervously asked.

Michael stops in front  of her and grabs her face. "You know you're a bad liar, right?" He raises am eyebrow. "Your magic flares up violently at random moments, especially when you're asleep. Stacie noticed a dark aura around you, even if you're happy. Plus..." He moves hair away covering her right eye, revealing her eye entirely black, except for for her iris glowing teal. "This is happening....I know you're in pain. Let me help."

JP turns away from his grip.  "I'm fine...Just leave me be.."

"But-"

Mika leans in the doorway. "Yo! The warehouse has been located. We're heading out now and we need JP."

"Coming!" JP heads towards the door before stopping and throwing this over her shoulder. "Besides...it won't make a difference if I'm incomplete..." She leaves.

Michael watches in shock and disbelief as JP walks out the door, her words replaying in his head. Sighing in defeat, he sits down and returns to his work.

"Why does she have to be so much like her mother..."

A/N:

Ello Erbody!

Thank you for reading! This short prompt was originally going to center Michael and an Android, but I've changed to to another one of my characters. As time goes by, I might come back to this and change some things. But I'll probably write a second version of this prompt later in the future.

"It won't make a difference if I'm incomplete."

Feedback is welcome and these prompts are free to use.

Have fun!
