Chapter 4

Second semester. This is where the new comers come begin their training. Students have to do training every year so the Council can decide what job we do later on. There is a huge variety of jobs and one of them includes Princeps, leader or captain. Like I've said before, they're extremely rare. The last time there was a leader or captain, was 20 years ago and that's when he died.

At the end of the year, all of the students will join in the Announcing hall. The Commissioner will call up all of the graduating students and give them their badge and mark, to indicate what job they have for the rest of their lives. That's where your life will begin.

I'm in the training room, with every other student, looking around at the huge room. There are weights, computers, weapons, a simulation room, and so much more. I ask Omega, next to me, "What should we do first?"

"Start with the smaller thing and end with the large. Show them..." She points to a box, up above, that has the Council inside it, watching, "...your best skill at the end."

"But I don't know what skill that is."

"Then try things out and decide from there."

"Okay. That sounds like a good plan."

"Wanna train with me?" Omega says.

"Sure." I reply.

We walk over to the caring section. This is where you act like a doctor but with animals, instead of people. I pick up a lizard pup, a puppy dog with a lizard tail and tongue, and hold it. I also feed it. I look at a sheet of paper, on the table next to me, and see what shot it has been given. I put the pup down and make the medicine.

After I make it, I give it to the pup. I check the box next to the medicine that I made and move along to the computers. Omega follows.

There are lots of things you can do in the computer section. You can hack something, make a program, or just simply create a presentation. I know how to do all of these things so I'm going to do the hacking part. I hack the practice software database. I spend a few hours doing it.

Later Omega asks, "Lena?"

"Yeah?"

"How do you talk in computer language like that? It's really confusing."

"Umm... it's hard to explain but you kinda have to think like one but you have to be simple in your wording."

"Oh. Could you teach me?"

"Yeah."

"I'm going over to the beauty section okay?"

"Alright."

She shuts down her computer and walks over to the beauty section. I continue to hack.

Right when I hack into the practice database, the Commissioner says, "Alright everyone, finish what you're doing and get ready for supper."

Everyone cleans up and leaves for dinner.

For months I test myself. I do what I know I can do when we first begin the training. As we go through, I try new things and find out that I can do everything correct. Almost everything. I can't do make up very well or lift weights but I can fight and use weapons. The weapons mostly include everyday items, like a fork or a chair. I can't wait to put it to the test.

Omega and I get up early, have a good breakfast, and head down to the training room, as instructed. It's the end of the year and now we show off what we can do. You are required to perform three main tests, intelligence, caring, and strength.
