Sorry y'all I just couldn't wait. 😂

"Mom I'm coming!" Aliyah yelled, rushing to get the remainder of her things.

She reached her door and slowed down, getting a bit emotional. She turned around and took in a deep breath "Guess this is it"

Looking around at what was her furnished room a few hours ago she couldn't help but get emotional. All in all she was more than ready to take the next step in her life.

"Liyah!!" Her mother yelled once again, interrupting her moment.

She cut her light out and shut the door. She couldn't wait to get to her dorm and away from her controlling mother.

She made it downstairs and waisted no time getting her things to the car.

"Eager are we?" Her mother spoke causing her to jump unexpectedly. She held her chest as she turned around to meet her mothers intensifying stare.

She gave a small smile and closed the trunk. "Just excited. . .that's all"

Her mother pursed her lips, not saying anything more. She got in the car and Aliyah followed.

"So, have you changed your mind about LSU yet?" Her mother said, trying to make conversation and irritate her at the same time.

Aliyah didn't want to go to LSU. In fact, she was accepted into her first choice which was Spelman. She didn't know that though.

Her mother, without assent, had disposed her acceptance letter when it came in the mail. She then convinced Aliyah to attend LSU.

"I don't know mom. I just-I really wanted to go to Spelman" She sighed, looking out of the window as they pulled off.

"Well sweetie I told you this before" Her mother glanced over at her "You don't always get what you want in life"

"Yeah I know that now." She admitted sadly.

She just wished she was good enough.

She did well on the SATs, even better than the requirements to get in. For that she thought for sure she would get accepted but the fact that she didn't made her feel inadequate.

"All is well" Mom assured her. "Because you'll go to LSU and have a blast! I'm sure of it honey"

Aliyah didn't answer her. She slouched down and plugged her headphones, letting her music take her away.

"Liy honey..Wake up" Her mother cooed sweetly. When Aliyah didn't budge she shook her roughly "Hold the blue cheese sir."

"What?" She questioned with an odd look.

Aliyah rubbed her eyes and sat up, taking notice that they had arrived at the Airport.

"Nothing mom."

Her mother brushed it off and smiled warmly.

"This is really it huh?" She asked, reaching in the glove department to get the tissues she'd known would come in handy.

Although she had her ways she truly adored her daughter and everything she'd become in her short time on earth.
