"You have one unheard message. First Unheard message." The feminine, robotic voice changed to the human-like voice that belonged to my Sister. "Hey A, It's your sis. I wanted to remind you I'm coming by soon. I'm bringing Allen and- Message deleted."
Ugh. Allen. What happened this time? Of course they come to me. They'll beg and they'll beg and I won't say yes. Let them come. See what good it does them. I'm NOT helping.
I look at my phone until it vibrates. I got a text from my friend, Crystal. She's nice enough. She let me stay here after all. I'd describe her if I cared enough about people. The text read more or less the same as what Abbey's message said.
She told me they were coming, and something happened to Allen. Of course. Then she said she'd come as soon as she could. I told her it was fine, but she didn't care. She started blabbing about work and once the conversation got on the topic of her wanting a favor, I said I had to go.
And what perfect timing, as a knock came from the door....
