Face me
Don't look away,
Stay in this crazy position
As we lazily lay in bed
On a bright Sunday morning
Mourning the loss of the night
Of the time we spent asleep
Not thinking
Just breathing,
Just dreaming of each other's faces
The simplicity but extravagance
Makes us start to think we are being eccentric
But those thoughts are irrelevant
When the only prevalent occurrence
Encourages me to see the urgency
In life itself.
Without you I would have given up.
You are not my other half,
You are a prize at the end of a path
That I have chosen to take
Even if you constantly deny what I say,
Modesty being the only word in your dictionary,
Unfortunately darling, your close to being perfect
But since perfection doesn't exist
You must be a projection made by my imagination
And I insist you realize your worth
And unearth the gold within your heart
For everyone to see and believe,
To ponder and be discussed,
Because a heart as big as yours
Deserves to be loved and trusted.
And your heart will not rust
But only dull until it is handled again.
Because as much as your heart gives it is never truly touched
Because of the guards you keep up
Disrupting the flow of conquest
Leading to an onset of conflicting feelings in others,
But not me.
Because I see through your meticulous scheme.
It was made as soon as you could think
To guard yourself from the brink of insanity
Facing those who constantly worship you for the queen you are.
But humble be you, so you stumble others before they get near
Steer them in wrong directions
Listening for orders of conquest
That constantly converge on you
Leaving you afraid to move
In fear of being broken
You rarely display that emotion
But right now as I see you sleep
Gently whispering your dreams
Talking about promises you have to keep
I have determined your guards have weakened
After months of fighting
Your resolve to try has stopped
But that does not make you more vulnerable
Because vulnerability does not always affect the stability of your defenses,
But your senses become stronger
You have become open to others feelings
And though at the first touch you reel away
Like being near a fire on a hot day
You say you can handle it and try again.
You reach out again to find it does not hurt
The love of another worth the initial fear
You gently wrap your arms around me,
And without a doubt I can see
I truly love you, and you truly love me
