WAKE UP! I awoke with a jolt. WAKE UP! I slapped my alarm clock. I had slept with my hearing aids in so I could hear the alarm and wake up on time. Now I wish I hadn't, I had two reasons the first well the sound no duh, but I also dreaded the day. It was my first day of school like ever. In my life I was home schooled with my 4 sisters and little brother. I'm the only one in the house with something wrong with them, for as long as I can remember I have been deaf. Only yesterday had me and my family saved enough money to get me a hearing aid. My mother doesn't want me to go to a public school. She wants me to stay at home. But I refuse and go anyway. I get dressed in my favorite shirt and tight jeans and go down stairs. I grab a muffin off the counter as my mom comes down the stairs " where do you think your off to?" She said jokingly "what do you mean" I said " it's my first day of school" she laughed and I laughed with her "well I better get dressed then. Don't want your mom looking messy for the public" she joked. My mom always was joking she would joke about death at a funeral if it made someone smile. I finished eating my muffin just as my mom came back down stairs dressed in nice jeans and a shirt. " get your shoes on hot stuff we have a first day of school to get to!"
