Lily's POV

"Well that was fun" Derek says as we get out of my car and walk back to the building, I smile weakly and nod my head.

It was alright to be perfectly honest, I wish I was with Harry instead. We part our ways and I walk to my next class with Danielle and Perrie. They were both already in their seats and I join them, setting my backpack down as they were talking.

"Who was that? Earlier? The boy?" Perrie asks as her eyes light up.

"He's new" I say as I take a sip from my water bottle, "his names Derek."

They both mouth oh, I ask them what they did at lunch and they all went to eat hamburgers. I'm glad I didn't go then, otherwise I would have been stuck with just french fries but then I would have been able to talk to Harry. Or he might've ignored me.

"Harry was unpleasant today" Dani says as we start on the math course work, "he's usually a bit friendlier but today he was just mean."

I wonder why, I wanted to ask but they probably wouldn't even know what to say and would wonder why I was suddenly so curious. I listen to them ramble on about how Harry almost punched a guy for bumping into him, getting angry when the food was taking too long and when they encountered red lights.

"He was really just impatient.." Perrie says, "maybe because you weren't there" she teases.

i wondered if that was a possibility, but why would he be mad when he was the one who had been ignoring me?

...

Friday

When I get home from school I change back into my pajamas, getting into bed and going on my laptop. Tyler wasn't coming until Saturday and I didn't have any plans today. Perrie and Danielle ask if we can hang out but I told them I'm grounded, I couldn't go anywhere.

My phone rings and my mom's calling, I sigh and answer. She tells me that she's coming home late, which wasn't surprising at all.

"Is your dad home?" She asks quietly, I tell her he is and he's in the office, "oh.. Well I'll be home late.. If you want you can go out, I know you don't like being home with your dad."

That was right, I didn't talk to him about much either. The only topics that came up were college and Tyler but I wasnt with him anymore and I wasn't planning on going to an Ivy-League. But I needed to talk to him about what possibilities I should look at.

Me and my mom talk a bit longer and then I hang up, slowly getting out of bed as I walk over to my dads office. He was fumbling with papers and typing on the keyboard as he furrowed his eyebrows, rubbing his chin.

I knock on the door softly and he looks up at me.

"Oh hello Lilian" he says as he quickly turns his attention back to his papers and the monitor.

"What do you need?" He asks.

I take a seat in front of him and look around the dark mahogany walls and bookcases, it was dimly lit in here. He had a fake potted plant on his table that was covered in dust.

"I wanted to talk about plans for next year" I say hestitantly, "I'm supposed to start applying soon but I haven't really thought about where I wanted to go."

He sighs as he takes off his glasses, setting down the papers and glares at me.

"I told you, Ivy-League colleges are the best Lilian, Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, Columbia.. There's only eight of them you need to look at."

"I know but what about State colleges..." I say quietly, I instantly regret it by how quickly he tenses up and turns red.

"Did you fail a class?" He snaps, "what are your grades? Why wouldn't you want to go to an Ivy-League? Are you crazy, do you want to work minimum wage for the rest of your life?" He scoffs.
