"...so who's the loser that's letting you drink by yourself on a Saturday night? I heard a thick raspy voice behind me as I turn the bar stool I was currently occupying to see a tall masculine man walking towards me.
"What's your name gorgeous?" He hissed. I should have expected to get hit on, it's a about 1:20 am Saturday well technically Sunday but who ever pays attention to that?, and on top of that I'm drinking my vodka painfully slow. Maybe I should have just ordered a round just for myself and tested how fast I can drink six shots of tequila. No that wouldn't feel nice in the morning. I thought to myself
"umm I'm Camila" I said awkwardly turning to the bartender to only see that she caught onto my uncomfortable emotional state
"Such a sexy name, I'm S..."
"Hey babe, I'll be done in five then we can go home" The bartender looked at me interrupting the guy before he could finish his sentence. Oh okay, play along Camila.
"Okay love, I'll be waiting here" I replied smirking at her
".. and that's my cue to leave" I heard the guy say as he left to go hit on some girl at the other end of the bar
"I don't know how I could have ever thought that I can have a drink by myself at a crowded bar" I laughed as I looked down at my drink debating if I should just take it down and leave so I could avoid any more sleazy run in's. The bartender laughed as she poured her and myself a shot.
"Oh no thank you, I'd much like to be able to smell breakfast tomorrow morning with out gagging" I said as I pushed the shot away from me back towards her. She shrugged her shoulders and drank both shots as if it was water, no disgusted face or anything. I just looked at her in pure shock.
"when you've been around alcohol for as long as I have, you get used to the burning sensation" she said as she rinsed out the glasses. "I'm Lauren by the way, and apparently we're dating" she said smiling at me
"Thank you for that, I don't know how I would have been able to tell him I'm not interested" I said shyly
"Easy just ignore the guy and they'll leave, if they think you're somewhat of a bitch they'll go look for someone else" She said
"I don't normally come to bars by myself, I'm usually with a friend or something but I guess you could say that today could have been better and I wanted to relax a little, but it's safe to say bars are packed with assholes just looking for sex on Saturday nights and vodka still taste like lit gasoline running down your throat" I said, mentally reminding myself never to order vodka ever again
"You're entertaining" Lauren said laughing a little wiping down the counter in front of me
"I'm sorry you're probably trying to work and i'm just complaining about how bad your vodka taste" I said with a sympathetic smile
"I don't think it's necessarily just our vodka, vodka taste like rubbing alcohol in general" she said giggling "but I wasn't lying when I said my shift was over in five, so I'm pretty much done here. I just liked hearing you talk that's all" She said smiling at me
"That's a first" I said shyly
"HEY! DANNY I'M HEADING OUT SEE YOU TOMORROW" Lauren screamed down at a guy pouring a round down at the other end of the bar and he just shook his head
"Well It was nice getting to know you Camila but unfortunately I don't think I can do this anymore, trust me it's me not you. You deserve a person who serves better vodka than I do. So this is goodbye" She said sarcastically still playing along to our little play earlier. "So how was that? Did I sound like every other douchy break up scene like in the movies?" She said laughing
"Yeah, that was great I could have sworn you were my ex girlfriend just a second ago" I said smiling like an idiot because I thought Lauren was super funny and cute
"She sounds like a bitch, good thing you're not with her anymore" she said
"Well at least I have the satisfaction of knowing she won't be getting hit on in bars anytime soon" I said laughing referring to Lauren's advice earlier
"Well aren't you a fast learner?" Lauren asked rhetorically. Yeah, She's really cute.
"Very fast, but thanks again Lauren you seem like a great person maybe we'll run into each other on the streets like in the movies" I said smiling while gathering my belongings getting ready to leave
"Although that would be fascinating, I was hoping that maybe you'd be interested in getting a cup of coffee sometime, I promise it'll taste better than the vodka" She said shyly
"I don't picture you as much of a coffee drinker" I said
"Well you don't look like you're looking for a one night stand but here you are at a bar on a Saturday night" She said
"Touche" I said laughing, she did have a point
"Okay miss smart ass, I'll take you up on that offer" I said smirking at her
"Nicknames already? Buy a girl a drink first would ya?" She said laughing
"Well Lauren here's my number and I hope to hear from you very soon" I said smiling
"I'm expecting that drink you know" Lauren laughed referring to her comment earlier
"We'll see" I said and that was the last words shared until I'd hear from the green eyed beauty.
