Elly walked into school. It was a normal Wednesday. The week was halfway done, and most people were just trying to survive for the last two months until school ended.

"Elly! You're here! Come on, you're later than usual. I wanna go to the library." Her best friend Brooke said as she skipped down the hallway, keeping pace with Elly.

"Where's Sienna?" Elly asked.

"Oh, she's already waiting in the library. You'll never guess what she got me."

"What'd she get you?" Elly sighed.

"A new Justin Bieber album! It's his latest, and I knew it was out but..." Brooke droned on as Elly stopped listening.

They got to the library, and went to their usual table. Sienna, Brooke's girlfriend, got up to give her a kiss. Elly sat down and got out her Spanish textbook to study for her test. Suddenly, someone's hands covered her eyes.

"Guess who."

Elly laughed and turned around. "I know it's you, Neal."

"I've gotta get better at surprising you. What's the point of being your boyfriend if I can't scare you every once in awhile?"

Neal was distracted by his best friend Tyler. "Bro, wassup?'

Behind Tyler was his sister, Rae, with their drummer friend Josh. The two were inseparable, which was probably because Josh played in a band with Tyler, called Twenty One Pilots. They were a fairly local band, but were popular in town. Rae sat down at a table nearby, tapping out a rhythm with her fingers while Josh told jokes to make her laugh. Elly kept watching him, but she couldn't understand why. Maybe she was jealous of the closeness of Rae and Josh, which was completely unlike her friendship with Brooke. However, she was soon distracted.

"Elly, have you heard Tyler's new album? It's so awesome! It has rap, and screamo, and almost every genre of music. Except country. Bro, please keep staying far, far away from country." Neal said.

"Sounds good. We should probably get to class, first bell is going to ring soon." Elly said, packing up her books. Neal grabbed her hand, and walked her to her locker.

"Babe, wanna meet after school? I heard that Brooke found a really promising horror movie."

"Sure." Elly responded automatically. She walked into her Algebra class, and sat down at her desk. At first, she didn't see the new kid, but soon realized he was there because of the buzz the class was making. She looked up and saw him walking towards her.

"Hey, beautiful." he said flirtatiously.

"Sorry, I'm taken." Elly responded.

"That's too bad. Lovely girl like you... deserves a handsome boy like me."

" Yeah, like you're handsome."

"Anyways, the name's Killian. Killian Jones. Nice to meet you." He said, holding his hand for her to shake. She took it cautiously, and was surprised by how cold it was. As he drew away, she noticed his clothing.

"What's up with the pirate look?" she asked.

He winked. " It's been known to attract the ladies."

All of a sudden his head snapped back. Killian groaned and looked at his now bloody jacket. He had just been punched.

"You well, milady?" a skinny boy said in a scottish accent. "I'm Brendon Urie. This laddie isn't bothering you, is he? I'll skelp his wee behind!"

"Hey! Quit that!" Killian snapped.

"Haud yer wheesht! I'll report ya to the teacher, I will."

Killian sneezed.

"SHUT YER PIEHOLE." the teacher yelled as he walked into the classroom. "Get in yer seats ya idjits. Now lets see who's here." He started to take roll. "Elly?"

"Here Mr. Singer."

"Brendon?"

"Morning mate."

He went through the rest of the names and then started class.

"Alright so the pythagorean theorem is-"

"Sir? Have you failed to notice that there is a new student in your classroom?" someone asked.

Mr. Singer glared at the student. "Course. But y'all already noticed him. So shut yer piehole and listen."

The rest of the class passed in silence, and everyone scurried out once the bell rang. Elly ran before Killian could find her again. He made her uncomfortable, but she also kind of enjoyed his flirting. He confused her, so she swore to avoid him.

Lost in her thoughts, she collided into someone. She looked up, and saw Josh, red faced and apologizing.

"Don't get in my way then, loser." Elly said.

Rae looked up from her locker. "Excuse me, but you are the one who should have been watching where you were going." she snapped.

"Rae, really it's ok. Come on, let it go." Josh quietly told Rae.

As Josh spoke, Elly rolled her eyes and walked away. Josh pulled out his iPod and started walking towards the exit of the school. As he was walking out, he noticed a girl on the abandoned playground that had been a part of the school a long time ago... She was swinging on an antique swing and humming the lyrics to a song he's never heard before. He decided to sit down and listen.

Suddenly, the girl's eyes shifted up, right, left, down, and then straight at Josh. She quickly jumped off of the swing. She glanced at him slightly, then ran inside of the building.
