School day
I walked into 1st period just before the bell rang. The classroom was full of rowdy teenagers.
I looked around to find my seat, being forgetful.
Finally catching sight of where I need to sit, I set my bag down to prepare for the lesson.
My first class of the day was English.
I. Hate. English.
Hopefully this class will be over soon and Mrs. Hugo doesn't assign any homework.
"Good morning class," Mrs. Hugo announced.
"Good morning, Mrs. Hugo," the class replied.
"Thank you. I hope you all enjoyed your weekend but it's over now. It is my time. Today we will be starting a story on..."
Mrs. Hugo's voice began to fade out as my mind drifted.I was worried about going to Adam's football game.
Adam has been my bestfriend since we were little. He was the first one to come up to me in kindergarten and ask if I wanted to be friends. So from then on, we were friends.
"Lily?" Mrs. Hugo asked, snapping me out of my daydream.
I looked up at her with a blank face.
"What do you think about the character?" Mrs. Hugo asked me.
I wasn't one to own up to my mistakes. And I wasn't paying attention.
"Well I think that this character would do well to stay in their book instead of this classroom," I answered.
The class giggled at that.
"See me after class," she said sternly.
That should be a detention. Oh well.
"That was funny," Adam whispered to me.
"You think so?" I replied.
"I know you weren't paying attention. Good job coming up with that on the spot," Adam said.
"Are you excited for your game tonight?" I asked Adam.
"Yeah but mostly nervous. My dad is going to be there," Adam said
Adam grew up with his mom and younger sister. He never knew his dad because he left when Adam was two. Recently, he had been in touch with Adam and he was a little worried about what his dad might think of him and what he would think of his dad.
"Just do your best," I said before Mrs. Hugo interrupted.
"Why do I hear talking while I'm teaching a lesson?" Mrs. Hugo asked.
We quickly silenced our conversation as my attention snapped back to Mrs. Hugo.
Soon after I looked over at her my attention drifted to the clock on the wall. Ten minutes left. Tick tock tick tock tick tock. I swear, this was the longest class of the day.
"Today, I am assigning each of you a group to read this book with," Mrs. Hugo announced.
I zoned out again until I heard my name.
"Lily, Amber, Jacob, and Adam, you will be a group," Mrs. Hugo said.
Amber is my neighbor and we're pretty close. I don't know Jacob, but I hope we can work well together. I'm not a straight-A student or anything, but I usually at least get B's.
The bell rang, releasing me from this miserable class.
"Ah, ah, not yet! I dismiss you, not the bell," Mrs. Hugo announced.
