[ Chapter Three ]

"How you feelin', kiddo?" Uncle Stan asked from beside me. I was staring right at my new school, a huge school I must say. I watched as different groups of teenagers conversed before class started. I don't even know why I felt so nervous.

"Good... this school is just so- big." I breathed, almost ready to open the door.

"Hey," Uncle Stan put a hand on my shoulder before I stepped out of the car. I turned around, seeing him form a small sincere smile. "Everything will be fine, just make a friend. I'll pick you up fast so we can be at the gym by three."

I nodded softly. What he didn't know was that making friends wasn't really what I was worried about- it was the buildings. I was really hoping I was on the first floor but the fact that I was a senior made me nervous about my placement.

I took a step out of the car, pulling the straps of my bag up my shoulder. Before I closed the door I heard a, "Have a great day at school, kiddo!" and I waved to my Uncle, feeling a little bit embarrassed. As he disappeared from the school property, I made my way towards the courtyard earning a couple of stares but nothing I couldn't handle.

I needed to go to the front office to get my schedule and luckily there were arrows directing the parts of the school. It was the building right in front of the school that had a poster from the inside of the window that read, The Front Office. I had to pass groups of unfamiliar people with plenty of excuse me's when being my clumsy self, I accidentally tripped over my own feet and dropped my binder. How perfect. My face turned tomato red as I recieved unpleasant stares and a couple of giggling. I felt so embarrassed but I bent down anyway to avoid any eye contact. I picked up all the loose-leaf paper that was laying on the ground as I knew it would take me forever organize my binder again.

I was a little bit upset that no one helped me but speaking too soon, a girl with light brown hair around my age and height was holding the pen I keep inside my binder. It was my favorite pen.

"Thanks." I beamed.

By the time she handed me my pen no one was staring anymore. "No problem." She smiled. "Are you new to Cora Creek?" So that's the name of this school.

"Yes," I sighed raising my eyebrows. So far I don't really like my first day, but she just made it a little better. We both moved out of the way, standing out of the crowd and next to a bench.

"Where did you come from?"

"Minnesota, actually." I told her, grateful that I had a least one person talking to me and I didn't look alone or awkward anymore.

"Nice," She grinned. " My name's Andrea by the way. I'm a senior." She seemed nice and confident about herself. I was glad I met her.

"Tori," I introduced herself. "And so am I!"

"Can I see your schedule?" She asked politely.

"I still need to get it from the front office,"

"Alright, I'll go with you!" She suggested and I felt happy with her welcoming gestures. She walked me to the front office and helped me figure out who I had to ask for my schedule. When I told the lady at the front desk my name, she handed me the paper. As I didn't know what to do with it, I handed it to Andrea to see if we had any classes together.

"We have fourth and seventh period together! And of course, lunch." I was relieved. At least now I have a friend. "Your first period is on the third floor- Mr. Florence, he's cool, really cool." I mentally freaked out, debating whether or not I should ask her to walk me all the way up there. Oh come on Tori, stop being such a baby. The bell rang right then, striking a nerve. I wasn't used to schools with more than one story, so of course this was omething completely new to me.
