I heard a bang. I didn't feel any pain. All I heard were people yelling. My legs gave out and I fell to the ground. "Scarlett!" a voice, my partner Julia Ward, cried. "Julia..." I said. "Shh. Don't talk." she said. As I was looking at her face, the world went dark.

I was woken up out of my dream by the loud sound of my alarm. I hit the "off" button on my alarm and get out of bed. My bed is queen sized with a large, black comforter on it. I put on my uniform. I also put on my gun and badge. "Mom! Breakfast's ready!" my oldest son, Richard, calls. "Be down in a minute!" I say. I walk out of my room and to the stairs.
As I go downstairs I think about my dream. It was a memory of when I was shot. I nearly died that night. It was a shootout with a dangerous criminal. The criminal's name is Josh Weiss. He is my brother. Growing up he was always... different. Josh was never a bad child but wasn't perfect, either. But for him to not only join a gang but form one. To become a criminal. It devastated me. "Mommy!" my youngest child, Charlie, yells. "Hi, baby." I say. I look over to the granite counter and see a plate of eggs and toast. "Hey mom." Richard says. "Hi, Richard." Just then my twin daughters, Cassie and Maya, come running in. "Hi mom!" Cassie says. "Morning mommy!" Maya says. "Good morning girls." I say. I look up and see the time. "Richard, time to go." I say. "Okay, bye mom." Richard says. I grab the plate from the counter and hand it to Cassie. My girls always share everything, including food. "Mom where'd you put my phone?" Eric, my twelve year old son, asks. "Near the door." I reply. "Oh and Eric, you're in charge. I need to be at work early." With that I leave the house and get in my car.

Finally at work. The FBI building is a big four story brick building. I get out of the car and nearly run over Julia. "Sorry! I wasn't paying attention." I say. "It's okay. Distracted with our assignment for today?" Julia says. "Yeah. I just don't want to see Josh. The memory... It's just to much. But I need to do it."  I say. "I know how you feel." Julia says. "How?" I ask. "I rather not talk about it... Let's just talk to the director and go." Julia says. "Ok." I reply walking towards the door. We head over to the stairs and run up to the third floor. The elevator was broken.
We walk over to the director, Nathan Burks, and ask him if we can go. "Agents Weiss and Ward are you sure you don't want backup?" Nathan asks. "Yes. Josh would probably attack us if anyone else came." I say. "Okay. Good luck to both of you. Now go." Nathan says. "Yes sir." we reply.

I really don't want to go in. No. I need to. "Okay, let's go in." I say. "You sure you want to do this?" Julia asks. "Do I really have a choice?" I ask. "You always can tell Nathan it's to much. He'll listen. You know he will." Julia says. "Let's just get this over with." I say. "Okay." Julia says. We walk to the door and go in. "Josh?" I ask. It was then I saw the crumpled note on the overturned desk. It reads:
Sister. I've left as you can tell. I'd keep a close eye on your children if I were you. Wouldn't want anything to happen. I need to get a few things. After that I will leave. Watch you're back, sister.
"What was that?" I ask. "He said to watch your children so maybe you should go and get them." Julia says. "Good idea." I tell her running to the door.
