Her best friend, Riley Matthews, is an optimistic but realistic girl who is basically the only good thing in Maya's life.

Her brother, Farkle, has a good relationship with her, but he seems distant all the time, like if he lived in his little world. Maybe that's because he watches a lot of TV and is like a "csi-fi expert", at least that's what Maya calls him.

There dad was in the army and that's why Maya is the best at shooting, karate, boxing and wrestling. Quite like the exact opposite of her brother. After their dad died Maya became more unfriendly and depressed teen ager and her mom turned into this hopeless mother figure that Maya can't even relate to anymore.
Farckle is way more sociable than Maya, and he was probably the person in that family that best reacted to their father's death, maybe because he didn't have a very close relationship with him, unlike Maya.
But what this story is most about, is her relationship with one person that is goanna change her life for ever. Any guesses???
But don't get to excited because these two will hate each other for a long time.
