We'd been sitting in these ugly uncomfortable fold-able chairs in the hall for what felt like forever. It was a plain hallway off the left side of the stage where a man with a microphone was telling about a little on stage. As I lean forward to look down the line of chairs I see we have four more people before us. Three girls and a boy and tons behind us. We all sit in silence, not saying a word to each other. We wait to hear our names.

We are all dressed up nice for our big day and had our hair done to match. Even the mean littles that pull our ponytails in the playpen look like angels. Everyone wanted to look their best on auction day. Our caretaker, Ms. Sofie had even dressed us in the best matching outfits that she'd bought just for this day. It was a set with a leather skirt and a shirt with a small heart shaped keyhole. My color combo was a pink shirt and a white skirt and Nova's is vise verse. Our hair is in bouncy movie star curls held up in some places by ribbons. We even had brand new matching pink Converse.

I glance at Nova and she looks a little nervous as she holds onto her bunny stuffie, Lola. I take her free hand in mine and she looks at me. I knew she could probably read the nervousness in my face too as she squeezed my hand and gave me a soft smile. "We're in this together. Like we promised." I whispered to her softly and she perked up a little more.

Today was the day that we might find our new daddy. One, that was kind and loving and would take care of us both, together. and wouldn't be separated. It had been this way since I first came to The BrokenBear Orphanage. I was so afraid and lonely until I met her. She helped me get settled and before either of us knew it, we became joined at the hip. All of the caregivers tried to explain to us that we would have to leave each other eventually when our new daddies came to pick us up but we refused.

"Our daddy will be special," Nova would tell them. "He'd want us both."

"Double the love!" I would chime in and we would both giggle. It had taken a lot of time and even a few fits before we could convince them we would be introduced to the mommies and daddies as a pair.

As I sat I noticed some littles didn't go and meet their daddies, instead they returned our side of the stage. They hadn't been picked by anyone. The thought of not being able to find my daddy today made me said but I would have hope. We would find him.

Ms. Sofia came over to where we sat with a big smile on her face. "It almost shows time my little beauties." She tells us as she tucks a piece of hair behind Nova's ear. "Remember, When you walk on the stage you stop on the red 'X'. Make sure you give them those big pretty smiles of yours, okay."

"What if we nobody picks us?" Nova asked.

"What if I forget to smile." I chimed in behind her and before she could say another word our names came over the little overcome.

"Your gonna do great! Just be yourself." She says quickly as she points us toward the stage. I swallow and look up the steps. Nova takes my hand and gives me a reassuring smile before we both take our first step up onto the stage.

"Hurry, We're already late," I say to Dean as I grab one of the brochures at the door. The BrokenBear Orphanage was a fairly nice size building in a city just outside of Downtown. It was hell trying to find parking around the building. Cars lined the little parking lot and the street in front of it. We had to park two blocks away.

"I'm coming to Le, I left my wallet in the car." He says as he comes up beside me and kisses my forehead. I smile a little at him. I just didn't want to be late any more than we already were. We walked up the stairs into a large room with dimmed lights. A large stage was set up in the middle of the room and hundreds of people gathered around it in chairs. Men and women of different ages gathered with number paddles and I wondered if they'd heard about this place on the Internet too. We found two empty seats toward the middle and settled in.

They had just finished auditioning for a redhead named Annie. She was even dressed in the cutest 'Annie' outfit from the movie. As she exited to meet her daddy backstage I glanced down at the brochure. I read through It and learned that all profits made tonight would go right to the littles well-being funding which provided food, clothing, and activities for the littles who didn't find their caretakers tonight. I thought it was thoughtful and I liked that the owner cared even about them to keep them comfortable here.

We watched for twenty minutes as they shuffled through a couple of little girls and boys. Dean and I agreed that each one wasn't the one and I started to give up hope. We'd spent years looking for a little and the ones that we'd found in the past had either used us for money or wasn't a little at all. We had stumbled upon this orphanage as a last resort and by the looks of it, we're going to be disappointed.

"And now ladies and gentleman we have a special treat tonight." The auctioneer tells us and I look up at the stage. "We have two beautiful little girls that want to say hello. Nova and Poppy are looking for a good home together and can only be adopted as a duo." The room hummed with people talking and I had to say that it was the first time I'd heard about such thing too.

"A pair? Maybe sisters?" I ask Dean and he looks as lost as I do.

"Maybe, wouldn't that be a little strange?" He asked and shrugged and looked back up at the empty stage.

"They're a little shy," He tells us before looking back behind the stage at them. "It's alright sweeties, come let the people saw hello to you." He coaxed and two heads peep around the corner of the curtain before popping back around out of sight. "Sofia, can you assist me please." He chuckles and a woman with sandy brown hair comes out with two girls in tow. One was a blonde and the other had raven black hair. Sofia leaned down a little to whisper something to them and whatever it makes them both giggle and I smile.

"Wow, they're beautiful," Dean commenting stealing the thought right from my head and I nod.

"Let's start the bidding for this adoption lot at 15,000 dollars." The auctioneer began and I looked at Dean. I wanted them and in his eyes, I could see he wanted them to. The bid had reached 20,000 before we could raise our paddles. When the bet reached 36,500 it came down to Dean and I and some man. Why wouldn't he just quit already!

"40,000." He says raising his paddle and I growled a little. This mama wasn't gonna give up that easy buddy.

"60,000," Dean said before I could even open my mouth to rebuttal. I looked over at him and he gave me a grin winking at me.

"Going once, Going twice! Sold! Congratulations on your adoption. Payment and pick-up of your beautiful girls are right to stage." The auctioneer says and the girls are taken to where we are supposed to pick them up.

"We did it," Dean says to me as we stand up and head back to the stage. I could tell he was excited and so was I. We had just adopted two littles. That meant double the work but also double the love. I just hoped that it worked out better for us this time around.
