L.B.: Good morning, Elfbit. Wassup?
S.P.: I’m so sorry that my friends got us kicked out of the library.
L.B.: I believe that screeching and toppling bookshelves when you find your friend in a library is not normal behavior.
S.P.: In their defense, we were…you know….
L.B.: About that….
S.P.: Yes?
L.B.: I’m really sorry if you think I overstepped my bounds. I should have asked first. I don’t know what came over me. It wasn’t very gentlemanly of me, was it?
S.P.: What are you apologizing for?
L.B.: Wait…I shouldn’t be apologizing?
S.P.: Did I spray you with Mace?
L.B.: Your friends screamed pretty loudly.
S.P.: Secret? You were my first.
L.B.: Well then. Secret? You were mine as well. Another secret?
S.P.: Yeah, go ahead.
L.B.: This is actually my first time in school, around so many other kids. I’ve been homeschooled all my life, so I’m really uncertain about high school social etiquette. That’s why I asked you to come to the library. Books just make me feel comfortable.
S.P.: That would explain a lot.
L.B.: It would?
S.P.: About why I like you. Books make me safe as well. It’s solid ground where I can’t go wrong. I’m not very good at socializing. Say, want to go to the Read & Eat café today? I know the owner, so chances of a discount?
L.B.: Books, food, you. Let me think. Hmm.
S.P.: And?
L.B.: Of course, Elfbit!
