Your words were just that,
Words.
But what no one understands,
Is how happy they made me.
Lovely
Beautiful
Amazing
Your velvet voice traced the outline of the words, as they rolled off your tongue.
Your eyes
Two drops of onyx, shimmering.
Their gleam fooled me, and I never thought to question their unnatural shine.
Your words were just that,
Words.
But when I ceased to hear them,
When the canvas that you painted for me was wiped clean
And replaced
With words once again
But this time, another's.
Who's words,
We're not just words
Because they were the truth.
And on the canvas, a different reality was portrayed.
And there was your eyes, but now soot covered coal
Rather than the beautiful gems.
And your lips, no longer formed the words you once said to me.
They formed different ones
For her.
And now I sit here
Staring at this canvas.
Not able to believe that, what once was, is now no longer.
