It was a warm night in New York City. I was just getting off of work walking down the darkest street in the city. You good hear the wind whistling even though it was like 75 degrees out. I was kind of afraid, not to a racist but, it was a black delinquent neighborhood. This was the one neighborhood that most of the murders and robberies were reported. So of course anyone would be afraid of this neighborhood.
You could hear the couples arguing, the kids crying, and you could see the smoke floating in the air. I felt sad for the children, I just wanted to run in the house and take them out of that type of enviroment.
Moments later as I was walking down a side street, I could hear footsteps following me. Now I know you probably wondering how could I could hear foot steps on concrete in the middle of the summer. But the dude had on very heavy boots. I tried not to look back, but I wanted to see how close he was. As I turned the corner he began to get closer and closer by every step. He didn't have the chance to do what ever he wanted because all of the peole that would be able to see it. I thought I finally got rid of him, but it seemed like he glitched from behind me to in front of me. so I tried to slow down my pace, but thee more I slowed down the more he slowed down. I even tried crossing the street. When he crossed the street I had gotten a glimps of his face. It was shocking because the guy ended up being white. I could tell he was white by the long section of dirty blonde hair that hung outside of his jacket. I could also see just a little bit of the left side of his face, which also made it very obvious that he was a white guy. I don't know why but I wasn't as scared. Once again I know it sounds racist but it's the truth.
A few blocks later it was all clear, well at least I thought it was. He walked up behind me and snatched me into an alley between a gas station and some houses. My life literally flashed before my eyes. I thought my life was over, he was so aggresive and non-sympothatic of my pain.
Until now i never believed in guardian angel. I would describe this man as my hero, like the comic books. He came out of no where, and slammed the woman beater to the ground. I was still scared nearly to death because how did I know he was just doing that so he can do the samething. But he didnt, suprisingly. He made sure I was alright and rushed me to a hospital. I couldn't do anything but ask my self, why would he save me. Why would he risk his life to save me, someone he doesn't even know, never met before. As im laying in the hospital bed I could see him talking to the police, I was scared because when the guy attacked me it felt like he knew me, like I was almost his target. As my superhero walked back into the room, he finally introduced himself. Because of the beaten I took I could barely hear him. But his name sounded so familiar. Charlie Baker was his name, almost like this rich dude that be on TV.
