Dean had been fretting for at least an hour, pacing back and forth around the bunker and Sam was began to get annoyed with his brother.
"Dean." Sam looked up from the book he was reading to get his brother's attention but either Dean was ignoring him or just hadn't heard. This time he spoke louder. "Dean!"
Dean looked over. "What, Sammy? Can't you see I'm doing something?"
"What Dean? You've been pacing the library for the past hour and you're beginning to worry me. What's wrong?"
Dean sighed and went to sit next to his younger brother. "It's not that there's anything particularly wrong, it's just." He faltered and the younger Winchester rose his eyebrows at the elder. "It's just, well, I've been thinking." The eyebrows went higher. "About well, about someone." Higher still.
"Who Dean?"
Sighing again, Dean began to fiddle with the zip on his leather jacket. "Well, about Cas."
Sam's eyebrows returned to their original positions and his eyes returned to scanning the pages of the book he was grasping.
"No reaction?" Dean asked, exasperatedly. "Sammy, I've been freaking out about this for days and all you can do is read? Why aren't you more angry, disappointed, shocked?"
This time, Sam closed his book and set it down on the table.
"Dean, I'm not Dad. You're gay, bi, pan? It doesn't matter to me, I don't care. You're no less of my brother. Like I said, I'm not Dad. He may have freaked too, kicked you out the house, called you names but I won't, you're no different to me than you were five minutes ago. You're still my pain-in-the-ass big brother and nothing will change that."
They smiled at each other before Sam picked up his book again and Dean's chair scraped against the bunker floor as he stood up, walking towards the doorway.
"Oh, and Dean," Sam called just as his brother was about to walk away. "we all knew anyway. We could tell, have you ever even seen yourself around Cas? I mean, Jesus."
Dean chuckled and looked back at his little brother.
"Bitch."
"Jerk."

Once Dean was out of the room, Sam picked up his book again, hoping that he may get at least a smidgen of reading time to himself without anyone disturbing him but this fantasy was soon pulled from his mind when a flutter of wings interrupted him and an angel in a dirty brown trench-coat appeared.
"Jesus, Cas, Dean is in there."
"No, Sam, I need to talk to you."
Sam rolled his eyes and placed a book-mark into the book he had been reading, prior to the past 10 minutes, and placed it back on the shelf, realising he would not be reading any more for a while.
"Okay Cas, shoot."

Cas took a step towards Sam before sighing.
"I think that your brother forgets that I can hear his thoughts."
Sam's eyebrows rose again, realising what Cas was saying.
"Crap Cas. So you heard the whole conversation?"
Castiel nodded and Sam brought his hand to his face, brushing over the slight stubble that had grown there, as he thought.
"Do you think I should talk to Dean?" The angel asked but before Sam could answer, Dean came waltzing into the room, clearly in a good mood.
"Hey, Sammy, do you reckon I cou- oh, hey Cas."
Dean blushed as he caught sight of Castiel and stilled.
"Dean we need to talk, I've already talked to Sam and we thought it best I come to you."
The former blanched, realising what this was probably about, mentally scolding himself for forgetting about Angel Radio and how Cas had probably been hearing his thoughts for weeks, while the latter dropped his head, not wanting to make eye contact with his older brother, case he thought he had told Cas. Dean took a step towards Castiel who seemed to freeze, making the older Winchester believe he had done something wrong, a feeling that was only contradicted when the latter took a step forward himself.
"Look Dean, I heard the whole conversation, all of it and well I guess" Castiel tilted his head slightly to the side and began to scratch his neck, the nerves bubbling up inside him. "there's only one way to say this. Dean Winchester, will you be mine?"
Dean's jaw dropped, Sam's eyebrows rose (for the third time) and Cas stepped towards Dean again, entirely closing the gap between the two of them, Sam watching on in awe. Looking down at his companion, Dean gently grasped Castiel's jaw, pressing his lips roughly against the aangel's before pulling away.
"Does that answer your question?"
All Cas could do was smile.
