One week already spent and wasted in Melbourne, Lina and Macie were shacking up in hotel room in an outer suburb of Melbourne, called Maribyrnong. The hotel room not really big, but big enough for two single beds and a bathroom.
Macie hadn't turned her mobile back on since switching it off at the airport. She was promised the world by her fiance' Aidan, but when it really counted she was jilted at the alter. Macie couldn't forget Aidan or what he'd done to her, nor did he seem to care as much as he should for their 6 year relationship, having known each other for a seven years in total.
"You okay, Macie" Lina asked, she looked puzzled tying to workout exactly how she'd been feeling, even after one week of relaxing, partying and clubbing their night away Macie still came across as aloof.
It wasn't at all like Macie to be heavily drinking or to be clubbing, her life back in Queensland was all too simple and boring, but being back with Lina somehow felt like she had been missing out on her youth.
"I'm okay" Macie swiftly turned her head to where Lina was standing, she was resting her right arm on the accompianed chair.
"Let's go for a walk, I'm needing some fresh air" Macie said bouncing from her seated position on the bed end.
Lina didn't need to say anything, she just grabbed her bags and followed Macie out the door, letting her lock the door behind them.
They walked down a long street that on the one side had bustling of cars, trams and buses. The sound of all the traffic triggered Macie's memories of her home town in Brisbane. It'd only been one week, but she was already starting to feel homesick.
Lina and Macie walked side by side until they reach a big interesting and beautiful place, the sign clearly read, 'Maribyrnong River'. It was a huge river enveloping on either sides with grassy areas, some with playgrounds and picnic arenas, whilst some areas were for joggers, walkers and bicycle riders along a nice tidy pathway that lead all the way around, a nice firm bridge joing all the river up.
Macie turned to Lina, "I'll catch you later. I need some "me" time" she softly said. Lina nodded and walked in the opposite direction they'd been walking.
Macie pulled out her ipod, placed the ear bits into her ears, turned the music volume up loud and walked forward, not paying attention to all who was passing by her. She listened to Calvin Harris' song 'Feel So Close', it was quite suiting since it'd how she was feeling.
As the song played out in her mind, it played a simple rhythm to her heart. She pulled out her mobile phone from her pocket and turned it on.
It flashed across the screen, '100' messages. A lot were from her friends, family and of course, Aidan!
Starting to feel her emotions takeover, Macie found a nice private spot to sit, besides a big tall tree over looking the water.
Macie started to seive through her messages one by one.
"Macie, Are you okay?", "Macie please call me", "Macie, I need to talk to you", the messages started to play out, mostly from Aidan.
Macie's voice mail calls where similar to the text messages, "Macie I'm worried about you, please call me sweety", was one of the messages from her mother Carol, while another message from Aidan was much too teary for her to hear, but she still listened, knowing it was the only way to move forward.
"Macie, I hope you're okay. Please call me. I know your world feels like it's crashing down all around you right now. But I never meant to hurt you, please call me", Aidan's voice was a major trigger for Macie. She kept thinking about how much she loved him and how she'd thought he had felt the very same way.
