I remember when I first met Jag...

I had turned the corner and at the very end of the main hall, there were a pair of brass doors. Above them, in very pretty calligraphy etched in gold, read the words: COMBAT TRAINING. There was approximately one hour left of class. I reached for the double brass doors and I had to strain my neck to fully glimpse them in my vision. I took a deep cleansing breath and stepped inside the large gymnasium; which was the biggest understatement of the year.

That couldn’t even begin to describe what I saw in front of me.

It was like being in Australia, Egypt and Canada at the same time. They somehow managed to put them together in one big dome. The floor underneath me was no longer the white pristine glossy floor in the hallways, but instead a grassy field. I looked up from checking myself out and I examined my surroundings. Scrutinizing every detail. To the left, was a jungle and the smell of rain. On the right, I could barely recognize the white flakes that danced around the mountains. The most significant setting was right in the middle; there stood a beautiful and graceful waterfall along with cliffs and jutted rocks, obviously used for diving. The worst(sarcasm) thing of all though, that deserves the “ohmygodimgoingtofaintaward”, went to the 12 angels.

12 male angels…that had just come out of the water…that had chiseled abs and water glistening off their body. I couldn't stop gawking and I literally felt the drool threatening to escape my lips. They all stand proudly with their white wings extended except for one, who just paced there with his arms crossed over his chest.

That was Jag...

and I liked him immediately. When he glanced up towards me and I offered him a smile he just kept looking at me with his incredulous blue eyes.

“Hi I’m Kalla,” I drew out the syllables in my name and I was satisfied that my voice sounded sweet and innocent. Most of the boys seemed to swoon over my voice…or my name? Either way, it was cute. I smiled inwardly but cringed as the quiet blue eyed boy just continued to look at the ground.

They all introduced themselves and that's when an older looking angel flew over top of them. He hovered in front of me, his majestic white wings stretched out to their full 17ft span. I recognized his friendly smile and the slight indent on the right side of his cheek. This was Dylan, the instructor and also the man who threw my world upside down.

This is when things got kind of interesting...

We had 45 minutes to go visit the mountains and perform this scavenger hunt. Dylan lead us to the Rocky Mountains that reminded me of Canada. One of the angels by the name of David, with brown messy hair and deep blue eyes, strode towards me and began telling me about the first part of the class and how they were holding their breath underwater for long periods of time.

“Yeah, I held mine for about, you know, 35 minutes or so,” He announced proudly . I laughed assuming it was a joke but he held my eyes. “You know I am not joking right? We can hold our breath for almost an hour, but it's extremely difficult and takes years of practice” I didn't think my jaw could have dropped any lower and with that he jogged up to catch up with the instructor.

Once we reached the top of the hill, Dylan engaged us, “For the next 32 minutes we will split into five groups,” I immediately noticed the boys were already choosing their groups silently with grins and head nods.

Groups were  formed and Jag was by himself.

Here comes Jesse

I started towards Jag but the most model looking angel stepped in front of me. I couldn't quite place his name at the time but I thought it was Jesse. He sure looked like one at first glance, with blonde shaggy hair and piercing blue eyes and a shadow across his jaw line that said “bad-ass”. I looked him up and down and he grabbed my waist.

“Hey babe,” he said dreamily. The corners of my lips lifted but I pushed him away.

“What do you want?” I demanded with my hands firmly on my hips. His gaze was unnerved from my quick change of mood. He shrugged and stuffed his hands in his pockets. “You shouldn’t be hanging with guys like him,” He jerked his thumb in the direction where Jag was leaning against a boulder.

Like that was going to stop me

I boldly stared at him and I shoulderdd my way past. Jag turned his head in my direction. I almost froze in my tracks as his blue eyes looked at me, cold and calculating. I flinched but continued to walk towards him, because I was just that bold.

“Hey” I began...

He turned his whole body to me. His jawbone chiseled and his hair gently swept to one side. His jet black hair was slightly ruffled by the wind but it contrasted his blue eyes so well. It was beautiful. It still is. A swelling dark feeling disturbed the pit of my stomach when his countenance looked blank and unintersted.

Just like how he was looking at me right now.
