I woke up stiff in the morning. Scarlette’s arm was around me, she was still asleep, and in the corner Adam was asleep as well… But wait… Where’s Alex? Oh my gosh where is Alex? What have they done with him? My eyes darted around the cage frantically. I grabbed hold of Scarlette and shook her awake. As soon as she saw my expression she knew something was wrong.

“What’s the matter?” She asked in a drowsy voice.

“Where’s Alex!?”

Scarlette looked around the cage and then back to me, he face expressionless.

“He’s gone for a drink” Scarlette’s touch-her-eyes-smile came to her face. Instantly I felt nauseated. What could he be drinking? Where was this taking place?

“Ew…Yuck” I mumbled, Scarlette just giggled and gave me a hug.

“When he gets back we can find your gift!” Scarlette squeaked in a cheerful voice.

“What?”

“You will see” Scarlette laid her head on my shoulder and gave out a sigh. A few minutes passed and Adam woke up.

“Alex is coming” Adam announced “He just finished his meal” I glanced over at Scarlette and we both smiled, I hoped she couldn’t notice me blushing. A couple of seconds went by before I noticed Alex coming around the corner. I lifted my legs to my chest and pushed my mouth to them, so when I let out that small squeal of excitement, know body would hear. The guards unlocked the steel door for him.

“It’s time Adam” Alex told Adam walking swiftly passed him towards me. “Shall we?” Alex asked me placing his hand out for me; to help me up. I went to give my hand to him, but when I touched I pulled away quickly.

“Ouch!” I screeched. His fingers were as cold as ice.

“Sorry, I’m a vampire, remember?” he gave out a small laugh. “Would you like to get that Scarls’?” Scarlette jumped up and put her hand out for me. We all walked out together in a group – the guards leading us of cores.

When we got to the burning hot sand away from the shade of the cave I began stepping quickly.

“Would you like some help?” Alex asked, I would have known his magnificent voice anywhere.

“That would be much appreciated” I said, my voice polite and clear.

“Haha, hop on, if you don’t mind the cold?” he asked bending down for a piggie-back ride.

“In this hot weather? Not at all” That’s when in noticed his eyes, they were light purple, they were amazingly beautiful. I felt my knees weaken at the breathtaking sight, but just before I could fall I felt his cold arm wrap around me; catching me. He threw me onto his back gracefully and continued walking. I wrapped my arms around his neck. It was like hanging off of portable ice, like touching snow on the coldest day.

we walked for about four minutes then the guards stopped and turned to Alex.

“Take it from here Alex?” one of them asked in a deep voice.

“Yes.” Alex answered simply. They nodded each other good bye and the guards walked back toward the direction the cave was in. Alex led us now, going further out into the desert. “Why are we out here?” I asked, it was a question that had been playing on my mind this whole time.

“We are gonna find your gift”

“out here?”

“Yes”

“but, the guards are gone… we can run, let’s get away from here”

“no!” Alex snorted “if we run they will hunt us down and kill us” I leaned my head over his shoulder so I could see his expression.

“Kill us? You are a vampire.. Adam and Scarlette…well I’m not sure… but how could they kill us?” I didn’t even understand how I was talking to him, so stunningly beautiful, any bodies normal reaction would be to hyperventilate until the point of being unconscious.

“Well It’s hard to explain.. anyway, I think we have gone far enough.” Everybody stopped, and Alex dropped me off his back. “Are your feet okay? Not burning?”

“No, not much, thanks.”  Alex and Scarlette stepped back. Adam clasped my hand and kneeled down as if he were asking me to marry him. He shut his eyes and hung his head slightly. A  small groaning sounds escaped from his throat as he squeezed my hand tighter and tighter.

All of a sudden he let go and jumped up to hug me. “Your just what we need!” he screeched. Then I felt more arms wrap around me. Eventually they stopped to stare at me in disbelief. “What? What am I?” they all smiled.

“you can heal anything that is hurt”

“really? How?” I saw all their expressions fade as they glanced around. “what?”

“it’s an extremely painful proses.” Scarlette explained, cringing. “it was excruciating for me, it lasts about five minutes, it_”

“It won’t hurt her” Adam interrupted. “As soon as I curse her she will be protected against any pain… and the spirits told me you will also become immortal, your body will heal anything, and your heart skin excreta will all stay this healthy…. For ever.” I heard the gasp that spread around the small group of three before they turned to me, to look at me with shocked eyes.

“Let’s do it!” I was so excited, to have such a gift would be amazing! Though my head was spinning with all this new information. Adam sighed and knelt down in front of me again. He opened his mouth and the words rushed out of his mouth.

Oh spirits of the dark and evil,

Give this girl her gift if you will,

Make her a gifted monster,

make me immortal with my healing power…

his voice then became so quiet I couldn’t hear what he was saying. After a few moments he looked up at me. “Fell any different?” he asked, looking exhausted.

“No. Should I?”

“you will be right, let’s see what you can do” I watched Scarlette pick up a nearby rock and push it into her check, she slid it down, and the blood ran out everywhere from the open cut she caused herself.

“Oh!” I ran up to help her. “What the hell did you do that for?”

“Heal me” she said, a small smile flashing across her face.

“b-b-but h-how?”

“You will know” I had no idea what to do. None at all. So I just stuck my hand up and put my figure on the bloody cut. Nothing happened. I covered the gaping swore with my hand to stop the bleeding. I didn’t know what else to do.

“I’m sorry Scarlette, I have no idea” I felt a tear well up and run down my cheek, I rubbed it off quickly.

“You did it” she said.

“what?”

“tears are the key” the smile that was big enough to touch her eyes came now.

“OH MY GOSSHHH!!!” I was so excited. This was amazing. I was with an amazing group of people with ‘super powers’, and now I had one as well! I jumped around and everyone gave me high fives before we began to walk back towards the cave. Alex picked me up on his back, and I hugged him, it seemed almost natural now. Adam gave me the information that they had food waiting for me back at the cave, and that at any time I could ask to go to the ladies room. I was missing my family, but I didn’t think I would get away from here any time soon, so I was happy to make the best of it while it lasted.
