Dedicated to my friend, GeekdomGoddess

"Oh goodness, don't tell me that's my foot."

Jewel tilted her foot slightly, expecting some sort of cracking noise upon the movement, however, luckily it wasn't her own. She pushed herself up from the position she was in, thanking her lazy fashion style in wearing converse instead of those flats her mom wanted her to wear. Eyes glancing down to the other person, she let a relieved smile slip to her lips, quickly kneeling down to help her friend up from the knot she was tangled in.

Wherever the two had gotten off to, she deemed herself lucky that her best friend Chloe was accompanying her. If she had to be honest, these sort of visits didn't happen often, dare she say that she was actually quite thrilled whenever this happened. Downside was that her phone was useless, other than the fact that it let her take all the pictures she pleased until her memory ran out. Her hand clasped around Chloe's, pulling her up from the marble ground below them, the chill of a current breeze gaining fragile goosebumps on her skin. Dammit, she forgot her jacket didn't she? How unlucky of her.

"Are you alright, Chloes?"

Giving a somewhat shrug, she brushed dust off of her flannel shirt.

"I'm pretty okay. These things really need to give a warning sometimes."

Jewel gave a nod, agreeing completely. Why couldn't there be a buzzer or something? That would make it SO much better so they could pack snacks or something. They don't even have a pencil or google translate! She shuffled herself closer to her friend, the other shining a nervous smile towards her. Chloe was excited, sure, but trips like these always has had a downside -- at least a few minutes into wherever they land.

"I hope that this time there isn't screaming aliens, they gave me a headache."

"Yeah, I agree. They were such a pain in the-"

Without warning, the loud whistle of a train snapped the two out of their thoughts, Jewel's hands rushing to cling to the other as she did the same. Wow, during this whole time these two didn't even think about taking a glance of where they were! They really were unprepared, seriously. The train whipped above them, casting a shadow down on the white floors as cars zipped the floating highways. A person walked by the two, giving a glance to their clothes and then not paying mind to how they acted, hurrying along to work. They let their eyes meet, the same thought slipping into their minds as wide smiles snapped onto their faces.

"Chloes, Chloes, we're in the future! My bro this is so freaking cool." Her voice was wispy, dark eyes widened in excitement.

Chloe nodded rapidly in agreement, her own grin spreading from ear to ear. "I know! Holy jacks, I can't believe it! Do you think we look weird?"

Jewel hadn't thought of that, deciding to take another quick look around before deciding to move from the quiet corner the two had arrived on. The buildings were made of bricks, painted either certain pastel colors or black and white, the sidewalks still their original dull grey. The cars had rays coming out of the bottom of the tires, achieving the ability to fly and hover over the bright blue digital highways and streets above them. Of course there still roads on the ground, but they were scattered with motorcycles and bicycles, crowds of people riding through as fast as the cars zooming past them.

"I think we should explore, that's what we do anyway, right?" Jewel gazed over to her friend, shrugging towards her own point. She gave her own look of hesitation, but it was quickly shrouded over with an ecstatic flair, flicking in her bright eyes.

"Fine. If we die, it's your fault."

"Like always."

"Like always."
