(The song above was in my mind the whole time while picturing this story, so to get a better image, please listen to it before or while.)

In this world, there is no life. We are all dead. The light has hidden in fear of the overwhelming darkness. The truth isn't revealed to everyone, but it is to me. I can see it. Maybe its not such a bad thing, that they cannot see the truth because the truth is definitely not something they will yearn. In their world, the fake world, it is a place of peace and contentment. The birds chirp tunes of grace and the streams flow endlessly into beautiful green pastures. The towns are filled with laughter and unity. It is a place that anyone would find joy in. However, I was blessed and cursed with the truth.

Everyday I try to survive, and I get through it just fine on my own. I have a home down in the forest where I live my life fighting off the creatures and finding food to eat. It sounds worse than it is. I love watching the people smiling in this terrible place, but when I think they don't see what I do, I forget the feeling of love. I don't really feel alone because I've never not been alone. Although, if I had to be completely honest I am not exactly alone. There are always eyes watching me or figures creeping past me. Some ignore me and some attack me. They are the ones called Terrents.

The Terrents took over this world. I don't know when, I only remember things from when I was ten years old and I've never seen this place without them. I am a 17 year old boy now. I don't know if these creatures brought the darkness or the darkness brought them. I have no idea how this all began. All I know is that I am the only person who can see this world. I try to avoid the town as much as I can to not get questioned. No matter how hard I tried when I was little, no one believed me, but how could they. It sounds like absolute nonsense. If I saw what they saw, I wouldn't believe me either.

I have to go to the town once in a while to get things to survive, so I can't completely avoid it, however I try my best to be swift. Today is one of those days. I packed my bags and headed off towards the village. I walked my usual path through the long and dubious forest, subsequently running away from offensive terrents, hiding in my spots I have found throughout the years and eventually making my way into the calm ambiance of the village. Although, to be frank, it could be considered the scariest of all places. They are everywhere. They like the towns for some reason.

I hastily go to buy the things I need and as I was about to leave, I felt something wrap around my ankle. Oh no! I was so close to leaving!  I try to run but I tripped. "Get off!", I shouted as loud as I could without being heard. I found a brick and through it on my ankle. It scratched some skin off but it got the terrent off too. I ran and I ran, but then suddenly I slipped into a hole. I stayed as quiet as possible and finally heard the sliding of the terrent fade away. Damnit, I can't get out with my ankle like this. *rustle rustle* The bushes. "Who's there!?", I demanded. Waiting in consternation.
