As I parked my black Mini, I hesitated before opening the door and stared at my new school, Monterey High. It wasn't very big, as Mel said, of course she was right. I let out a sigh, grabbed my bag from the passenger seat, opened the door and got out, slamming the door behind me applying an unnecessary amount of force and locked it. I slowly walked through where everyone else was going, trying to go unnoticed, then I started to hear whispers, I looked around and  people were staring at me, guess the 'going unnoticed' idea was out the window, huh. I sighed again, and kept my head down, then someone lightly tapped my shoulder I turned around, slightly confused.  A girl stood there a smile beaming across her face, she was about average height like me, olive coloured skin and long, curly, dark brown hair. "You're Alexa, right?" I nodded, her smile widened, "Hi, I'm Brianna."
"Nice to meet you, Brianna." I replied sheepishly.
"You're British?" she asked, guess it's obvious for Americans to notice, I nodded again, blushing. She gracefully came and walked beside me. "Where's your first class? Maybe you're in the same ones as me."
"Actually, I was looking for reception, to pick up my timetable, would you mind showing me the way?" I asked a bit embarrassed.
"Of course, come with me," she gestured for me to follow her, and I did. There was quite a short, plump lady behind the desk, around mid 40s, typing something on her computer. Brianna cleared her throat "Ms. River?" the lady looked up from her desk, startled. "Yes, dear?" she looked at me, Brianna turned to me and nodded towards Ms River, I realised the hint " Hello. I'm Alexa Greene, this is my first day here and I was just going to ask if I could have my timetable? The headmistress said I would have to pick it up here." She smiled and nodded turning back to her computer, typing very fast. "Age, dear?"
"16" I replied. She turned to the printer on the left of the computer and waited for the documents to print out, and put them in a plastic folder. "Everything you need to know is in there." She handed me the folder, I replied with a quick thank you and just as we turned for the door, the bell went.   I opened the folder to search for a timetable. "What's your first lesson?" Brianna asked glancing over my shoulder, as I pulled out the timetable before I could reply she said "English. Same! We're even in the same class!" I grinned, Brianna seemed nice. On our way to English, I started to feel so nervous.
