So, uh hi I’m Scarius, but I guess that’s irrelevant to you. You just want to hear this story. Well I don’t care that you don’t like introductions or exposition cause’ I’m telling you any way. So I’m from the Anolia region, which is north of sinnoh, and is incredibly cold all year round. I’m not kidding summer for us is 10oc max. We are also known as the central for ice and dark types, as really nothing else can thrive in the weather. Literally the only way to get a pure grass type is to get one as a starter. And due to the abundance of ice types that isn’t a good idea. Even the fire type Lavabug is partially bug type. And the water type Rainly becomes an ice type.
So our Pokémon challenge works similarly to that of the one in alola, where you go through a district challenge, then a temple battle. Where in alola you do a few trials with totem Pokémon, then face the kahuna. However our temple battles are significantly harder as you have to fight 6 wild Pokémon then the temple guard, who is a person chosen by the island leader to protect and maintain the island. Like how the island legendary chooses a kahuna. And every time you lose you have to battle the wild Pokémon again so you will never actually face the guard with a full just out of the poke-center team. The coolest thing is that they have these weird powers or have survived terrible things. Like our temple guard survived having all but her left eye frozen off from a Beartic attack, you can see her skull, it’s creepy! She floats too. And sings this song called “The Moss” to anyone who challenges her arsenal of dragon destroyers. Fairy ice types in case you didn’t know. But over here the minimum challenging age is 17, as letting an 11 try to fend for themselves in the cold seems like a break in logic.
So I got my first Pokémon when I was 9. A tiny newly hatched Lavabug, which has been my best friend since it stopped being scared of me. I’m 17 now and it’s evolved twice, once into Lavacoon then into Lavafly. Who, despite still being relatively small is incredible to walk around with as it is a tiny form of warmth, and he is the sweetest little bug to ever exist. I actually started my district challenge a couple days ago. And I have already beaten the first district challenge, however I have yet to face the temple battle, so that’s what I’m going to do today.
As I’m trekking through the snow I suddenly realize just how intimidating the temple battle actually is. The wild battles were easy and way to short to describe but the guard battle, I’ve had to do it over a couple of times, his main pokemon was actually a pretty common one, a Ratata which of course knew the water type move dive essentially screwing me over in the first couple rounds, y'know fire weak to water. And my second Pokémon is a not fully trained Whimpod, which is super weak to ice types, and my third is a Umbreon I got from professor Pine. I still hate the move "Moonblast"
